Ian Bradshaw, the West Indies fast bowler, has been left out of the Barbados squad for the four-day domestic competition next month. Joel Garner, the chairman of selectors, addressed Bradshaw's non-selection issue and the new rotation policy.

"We have spoken to the players and we have explained the situation," Garner told the Jamaica Gleaner. "I have spoken to Ian and he will be expected to feature during the season, in the four-day competition as well as during the one-day competition.

"I think that we have to start looking at our cricket in terms of what is best for the cricket. I think that sometimes you have to bite the bullet," he added. "We are now in a position to say that our teams would be selected based on competition between the players as opposed to you just looking at some mediocre performances and you have to make a judgment call."

There has been confusion regarding the recently-implemented rotation policy, but Garner maintained that the players not selected were still on the fringe.

Bradshaw, 32, has been included in the squad for the regional one-day tournament. Barbados' first Carib Beer four-day match is against Trinidad and Tobago from January 4.
