India v Sri Lanka

Wisden's review of the fourth Asia Cup match, India v Sri Lanka

15-Apr-2015
At Fatullah, February 28, 2014 (day/night). Sri Lanka won by two wickets. Sri Lanka 4pts. Toss: Sri Lanka.
There had been moments during the previous few years when India v Sri Lanka felt like the most regular fixture on the international circuit. But this was their first meeting in seven months - and it was Sri Lanka who came out on top in a cracker of a contest. Their chase was held together by Sangakkara, who overcame a mid-innings wobble after the dismissal of Kushal Perera for 64.
Sangakkara's 18th one-day hundred was also his fastest, coming from just 83 balls, and his sixth against India - though he should have been stumped on 30 by Karthik off Jadeja. He finally thickedged a full toss to third man just before the end - a third victim for the expensive Mohammed Shami - but the ninth-wicket pair added the seven runs required, completing victory with four balls to spare. Earlier, Dhawan missed out on a century when he failed to connect with a hoick at a short one from Mendis, who finished with four wickets, although Senanayake's off-spin was steadier. Mendis's haul included the danger man Kohli, torpedoed by a carrom ball.
Man of the Match: K. C. Sangakkara.
