4:16pm A gripping series. Another one where the West Indies have progressed. They have a win in each of their last three series - two of them away. They've found a new batting star in each of those as well. Shai Hope followed Roston Chase and Kraigg Brathwaite to show that, steadily, West Indies are building a Test batting line-up that can challenge. But once again, they're dipped in a dose of reality. They didn't all perform together, and ultimately, the settled, professional, prolific side came roaring back to inflict a comprehensive loss on them. Stokes in the first innings, Anderson in the second. Supporting acts by everyone else in a vastly superior bowling line-up, in a bowlers' Test. Done on the third day before Tea. An anti-climactic end to a nicely poised contest. Gnasher will bring you the presentation and post-match.

4.25pm Thanks Varun. So that ends England's Test season. Series victories over South Africa and West Indies, but a lot of the same problems remain. The next time they play a Test will be at the Gabba on November 23.

Nate: "Love the way england have got back in this for the win after their first innings wobbles...proves that although they are they there, the team has got the resource to overcome their weak spots."

Ebenezer scroog: "Bah! What an anti-climatic end to a very interesting test and series."

Almost presentation time, they can be lengthy at the end of a series!

Man of the Match is Ben Stokes. "It's good to come and put in a performance like that, the way we bounced back is credit to the team. I felt good in that long spell, helps when the ball is swinging. Quite hard for Rooty get the ball out of my hand. Feel like I'm getting back to where I want to me, a lot of credit to Ottis. Jimmy showed his class in the second innings and he deserves all the plaudits. I took the positive approach with the bat, have had a bit of a luck in the series."

West Indies' Man of the Series is Shai Hope. "It's been good to get some runs my belt and hopefully I can carry it on. It's a tough place to play cricket. It was a very good learning experience for me. It's about trusting your plan, your game."

England's Man of the Series is James Anderson. "A Test here at Lord's is always special but this week will live with me for a long time. I didn't think I'd play anywhere near as much as I have for England, and in such an enjoyable one to play with - in a series win - makes it very special. There wasn't much swing today, just trying to create pressure, and we did it brilliantly, got the rewards. I work hard on my fitness, with age you get a few more injuries but not had many this summer. Ottis will be a huge loss, he's been fantastic in both stints with us. A great cricket brain."

Jason Holder "No regrets, thought the guys showed a lot of fight. We brought ourselves back in the game. In the second innings we didn't bat as well as we would have liked. Credit must go to James Anderson - congrats on 500 wickets - but also to Ben Stokes. Going on we have another series in Zimbabwe, we have to keep it going. We have a lot of positives to work with. We still have to be a lot more consistent with the ball and with the bat fight harder at the start of the innings. We also dropped a number of chances. Hopefully it's a breakthrough series for Shai, in the toughest conditions in the world and one of the best attacks."

Joe Root "The guys were fantastic this morning and continued it all day. Jimmy's achievement speaks for itself, the work in puts in and how he knows his game. He's a massive part of the dressing room and hopefully will be for some time to come. He's very helpful, very insightful. We've played some brilliant cricket this summer. The way we've won has been fantastic, hopefully we can take it forward. We've done a lot of learning as well. It's been very enjoyable. Plenty of learning for myself as well and I'm sure there's more to come."

And with that, Root gets covered with champagne for the second time as Test captain. Two series wins in the bag, overall a very successful start with him even if questions remain ahead of the Ashes. That brings an end to England's Test summer, but still more cricket to come. A one-off T20 then five ODIs. Before then West Indies play Ireland in an ODI. We'll gave coverage of all that over the next few weeks. We'll have plenty of reaction on the site to this match and series this evening. For now, though, it's goodbye from Gnasher, Miller and Varun and thanks for joining us.
