Ireland vs Scotland, 2nd T20I at Bready, , Jun 19 2015 - Ball by Ball Commentary

NO RESULT
2nd T20I, Bready, June 19, 2015, Scotland tour of Ireland

No result (abandoned with a toss)

19:25 I'm afraid that the weather has beaten us here at Bready today. The Umpires have called off play for today. The rain has just kept coming and it still doesn't look

like it's going to stop for a while. Thank you for bearing with us on this frustrating day. Please join me on Sunday when we will be having the final game of this series. The game starts at the earlier time of 2pm. Hopefully the rain will have stopped by then! Until then this is Justin Smyth saying goodnight from a very wet Bready.

18:45 It's still raining... "No surprise" I hear you say. We are losing overs and the latest we have to start is by 20:17 pm. If we get going then it's 5 overs a side.

Just worried about the crossed fingers if we have to wait that long.

18:10 The bad news is that the rain has returned. So the covers are going back on. Frustrated anyone? Lets hope that this is a passing shower.....

There are 3 changes to the Ireland team. Dockrell, Balbirnie and Cusack are in for McBrine, Rankin and Sorensen.

There are 2 changes to the Scotland team. Con de Lange and Gavin Main come in for Sharif and Wallace

18:03 So the news from the middle is that Scotland have won the toss and will bowl.

17:55 Good news, if there is no more rain the toss will be happening in the next couple of minutes and we will be starting at 6:10 pm with no loss of overs.

We have had some comments in asking about Man of the Match awards. There will be none in the individual games. Only a man of the series.

17:50 local The ground-staff have started working on the covers. The Umpires are going to inspect once that has been done. As long as we start by 6:18pm then there is no reduction in overs. After that we start losing overs every four minutes.

17 :30 local The Umpires are out in the middle. The drizzle seems to have stopped for the moment. The ground-staff are taking a rope around the ground. Hopefully we might have some news soon.

17.18 local The rain keeps on falling...and that's that. It's still not heavy enough to stop the Scots from playing bit of footy in the outfield.

16.55 local You might be expecting to hear the news of the toss... Unfortunately the drizzle has arrived at the ground. Its strong enough for the ground staff to have put the covers back on. The good news is that its not falling hard. So as soon as I have any news on the start time I will let you know.

16:42 local Good evening and welcome to the T20 series between Ireland and Scotland. My name is Justin Smyth and I will be bringing you ball by ball coverage of the second game in the 3-match series which is being held at the Bready Cricket Ground.

Scotland lead the series 1-0 after their 6 wicket rout off Ireland yesterday. Matthew Cross was the star of yesterday, with his magnificent 60 off 34 balls. Although I'm sure that Tyrone Kane will not forget his first over in International cricket, 3 wickets from 4 balls.

There is no mandatory release for these games so a number of players from both sides are unavailable due to English county commitments. I'm sure that Ireland would have rather had Paul Stirling hitting 54 off 27 balls for them last night rather than Middlesex in the T20 Blast!

Both teams will be stronger today than yesterday. George Dockrell and Andrew Balbirnie have arrived from over the Irish Sea for Ireland.

Plus Con de Lange is at the ground for Scotland. Although whether Scotland will want to change their winning combination is another matter.

Yesterday's game was played in a strong breeze but thankfully no rain. Today I'm not sure that we are going to be that lucky. There has been a lot of drizzle in the air on the way to the ground. The type of rain that if you were playing wouldn't take you off although it might stop you from starting.
