Tamim fifty keeps Zimbabwe at bay

The resolve of the Bangladesh batsmen has been under question in recent times, and some more arose after the early dismissals in both sessions, but Tamim Iqbal's restrained half-century kept a disciplined Zimbabwe at bay in Khulna

Time for the presentation:

Brendan Taylor: It was disappointing. You work hard for 4.5 days and get blown away like that, it's a hard thing to swallow but Bangladesh were the better side. Credit to them and to Masakadza and Waller for playing well. Our bowlers held their own to restrict Bangladesh and we should have scored bigger in the first innings. They've got some pretty good spinners, especially on the last day. We need to have a look at some of our dismissals. There's still a Test match to go and we'll try and improve.

Mushfiqur Rahim: We needed the win and knew it was not going to be easy, the credit goes to all the boys. Shakib is a very special player. There was a big improvement in our batting from Tamim and Shakib. There are areas to improve, especially in our batting and we'll think about our tactics and work on them. It's obvious both teams dropped many catches and we need to work on that. The team that misses less catches wins. We know why Shakib is special - with bat, ball and in the field - and all the young guys are inspired him. I'm happy for the whole team and hopefully it will continue. Couple of areas where we need to improve and we want to win 3-0.

Shakib Al Hasan is the Man of the Match: I thought it was a very good team effort, especially the stand between Mominul and Mahmudullah, and Shuvagata' fifty later on. Taijul bowled very well and I did my part too. One journalist told me couple of weeks earlier about the record and I had my eye on taking 10 wickets and scoring a hundred. I was lucky, and thanks to almighty as well. The pitch was a very good batting track, it wasn't easy to score runs and difficult to get out too once you settled in. It was turning a lot on the last day. I put the ball in the right areas and it worked. It's a great feeling to lead a series 2-0 and hopeful we'll keep on doing this in the future series as well.

That's all we have from the second Test in Khulna. Do join us for the third and last Test starting November 12 in Chittagong. Till then, b-bye!

Ahnaf: "Bangladesh back to Winning ways! Congratulations to Shakib for the record."

Avishek: "Bangladesher Pran, Bangladesher Jaan, Shakib-Al-Hasan!"

3.20pm There was always pressure on Zimabbwe against the spinners once they came out. Hardly any batsmen got starts barring Masakadza and once he got out after tea, they all fell in quick succession to collapse for 151. The last five wickets for 14 runs and Shakib completed his excellent achievement of a hundred and 10 wickets in the same match and Bangladesh lead 2-0 now

Timothy: "Can't believe Chatara didn't review!!! Hit outside off! What a collapse!"

Baharul: "Shakib Shakib and Shakib ... He showed his class and ZIM lost"

Taijul Islam to Chatara, OUT, struck on the back foot, he's been given out! Chatara went on the back foot to punch it, he missed it and was struck a bit outside off but he doesn't review it so Bangladesh have won by 162 runs. Celebrations all around the pitch as Mushfiqur plucks the stumps out to celebrate, high fives all around and the crowd also erupts. Mushfiqur swung a stump around in his right hand and it injured one of his team-mates under a helmet. Looks like Mominul, but can't confirm. Mushfiqur checks if he is ok and they start celebrating again!

  • Khulna climbs aboard the party train

Given the mutual dependence between Bangladesh and Shakib Al Hasan, perhaps it was only fitting that the allrounder chose to underline his return to the side with a match-winning performance in Khulna
