Scorecard summary
Bangladesh 31/0(4.4 overs)

So with that the T20 series will be shared by the two teams as a product of this no result. Bangladesh have somehow managed to get a hand on the trophy without winning, which will provide some semblance of comfort after the kind of run they have had in the limited-overs format of late. Both teams now go away to make preparations for the upcoming Test series, which begins on September 5 in St Kitts. Till then, this is Rohan Sharma saying good night and good luck!

10.40pm The match officials, after a long, drawn out discussion, have called off the match finally. The captains have relayed the news to their respective troops and now Sammy and Mushfiqur lead their players as handshakes are given all around. For those of you brave enough to stick it out all this time, we thank you for your undivided attention.

BajanJonathan: "Dodgy lights, dodgy covers, small crowds. With all due respect I think this just goes to show that most matches need to be played in Barbados, Jamaica, Trinidad and Guyana where there would be bigger crowds and these technical difficulties wouldn't happen."

10.35pm The umpires are making their way out to the middle for the inspection. Will have news on how that goes.

10.27pm Some fresh news for you as it appears that the issue isn't so much with the condition of the pitch and outfield, but whether or not the floodlights will be able to stay on as there seems to be some fault with the power system at Warner Park.

10.25pm Ten minutes away now from the inspection. Pretty much all the covers have been removed aside for one small one just outside the square, which I imagine will be disposed off shortly.

Devin Singh: "i shall ask again... what do those two genius mathematicians have in store for us tonight? can't wait for the answer!"

Huzaifa: "I am still awake here in dhaka 8:17 AM. Fighting to keep open my eyes Not sure I am gonna make it. :("

10.20pm The ground is looking in a lot better shape than it was when the rain had hit. Looks like we may just be set for play, but the inspection is still a good 15 min away..

10.10pm Looking to have a good chortle? Here is the ten worst deliveries in cricket history. By the way the lights are out again in Basseterre...

Johnathan : "If we do get a match restart I believe Bangladesh will run away with victory because of D/L and this terrific start."

10.05pm Inspection just half and hour away now.. Most likely will be a reduced-over affair, but we don't yet know how many?

9.55pm Lights have gone out once more. The fans must be wondering what on earth is going on?

zaman: "I have seen Tuskin bowling against India . He is a very young promising seamer for BD . Is he going to entertain the fans today? "

9.50pm While we wait it out, now would be a good time for some satire, and Jon Hotten has got you covered as he looks at the various scenarios that have escaped notice of cricket writers and reporters.

9.46pm The lights are back on thankfully, and all the crowd can do is dance to some soca and reggae music. We have received word that there is to be an inspection at 10.35pm.

zaman: "Rain always interrupts the momentum of the game irrespective of team / country. Let's see how BD handles that "

9.43pm Both captains are currently in talks with the match officials. Probably getting an idea of how many overs to bowl and when this should all get underway.

9.40pm No word yet on a resumption time. The lights have presently gone out in the stadium, just to add an extra level of difficulty for the groundstaff who are being made to toil hard here

9.35pm The covers have come off from one of the bowling ends, with the groundstaff moving over to remove the other one. Looks like we will get some play today..

9.30pm The Bangladesh players walk off the field with the match officials in keen discussion out in the middle. Hopefully play is underway shortly.

Abhijith D J: "A tamil Indian Movie titled "Chennai 600028" was based on tennis ball gully cricket played in India"

9.23pm Finally some good news as it appears as if the covers are being taken off the pitch with the rain having subsided. The roller is out and hopefully they can mitigate some of the damage caused by the delay in getting the covers on earlier with the blustery winds. The players are also milling about, seeing if play indeed can continue despite the stop in rain.

Zeeshan Mahmud: "The Lady Vanishes and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel has references to cricket to y'all."

Joe: "@Orko: Fire in Babylon is definitely top class. They all groveled! Never challenge a West Indian! :)"

Orko: "@Nazmul: Actually Million Dollar Arms is about a couple of young pacers from India who were recruited into major league baseball as pitchers..."

Fazlul: "What I have experienced in 10 years of abroad that the ideal place for cricket is Middle East..( Not summer time) where you will hardly face rain here...."

Nazmul: "There is a movie about Cricket made in Hollywood named "Million dollars arm""

Miles: "Lagaan is another must see cricket film. Wonderful."

Kareem: "In response to Russel...St. Kitts and Nevis has a population of about 38,000 people, Lord knows how many St. Kitts alone has. You can't expect "large Australian crowds" from an island of that magnitude. "

9.15pm Need some more literature to help pass the time? The old metronome himself, Glenn McGrath, recently sat down with ESPNcricinfo to discuss his views on the game, and what made him the champion bowler he was.

Riddymon: "So speaking of cricket and movies. I was watching a movie called "Blended" starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. So they take a family vacation and stay at this tourist resort in south africa. At one point, Sandler is trying to teach his son how to play cricket and says "This guy Dale said he'd throw the ball to you." Wasn't I surprised that the Dale that he was referring to was the Proteus legend himself Dale Steyn!! Talk about pleasant surprises :)"

Orko: "It's because the movie industry is based out of Hollywood... where the sport is not popular.. yet... Seems like there are quite a few cricket movies made in India but of course not in English and hence not popular internationally... Speaking of Cricket movies though, how good is Fire in Babylon!! watched it 3 times now!"

Russell: "Why are the games in Basseterre anyway? I am so tired of that place. Hardly any fans most of the time. I don't get it why 90% of the games are scheduled there."

9.05pm Still no good news I'm afraid as it is still bucketing down in Basseterre. The heavy wind has also proven to be a factor.

9.00pm Have you ever wondered about the dearth of good cricketing movies out there? Rob Steen has, and he ponders over why there has been a failure by filmmakers to capture the essence and drama of the game, while our American counterparts continue to find movie gold through such titles as "Moneyball" and "Field of Dreams."

Tamim: "Mash and his injury problem is not a new story! but at the end of the day he will be fit to play and will bowl his heart out! He is the real fighter of BD team"

8.50pm Update for Bangladeshi fans, and it is not a good one, as Mashrafe Mortaza, who was initially reported to have been rested for today's encounter, has actually come down with a groin injury. No more details at present, but will fill you in as they come.

8.45pm The latest update from Basseterre is that it is still raining hard... But again, wishful thinking, and all that...

Abir Utsha: "World is a funny place. Difference in different sports. Someone goes to his dream club for biting people, someone gets banned for terrorizing teammates with the power of social media."

Tamim: "Can someone tell me the drainage system of ST KITTS? is it good or worst! like can the play go underway, orelse i will sleep!"

Shipu: "It really makes no sense why these games are being held in a rainy season? Would've been better if this T20 was held a bit earlier on knowing the poor forecast for this game. "

8.40pm Although the rain makes for a depressing scene, there was some good cricket on offer today, as South Africa chased down Australia's 300+ plus score, and India managed to finally win again on their dismal tour of England. Suresh Raina, the India middle-order bat, was in sparkling form.

Jerry: "In the 'old days', say even the 60s, from what I've read, covers were for sissies, and after a rain you just played with a sticky wicket. However, I have no idea how long that extended delays. If the pitch is soaked, will they play on anyway if the rain stops? (From a new cricket fan, even if 67 years old, now that ESPN3 shows lots of cricket!. Thank you, cricinfo, for your commentaries!)"

8.35pm Sharing Youtube videos is always fun, but sometimes, just sometimes, it can land you into trouble. Check out this news report on why Tinashe Panyangara was expelled by Zimbabwe Cricket from the tri-series in Harare.

Devin Singh: "The most interesting thing to see is how the Duckworth/Lewis method comes into play... As an ardent Amazon Warriors Supporter, I await the new rules of play.... should be pretty interesting"

James: "This isn't the 2000's. No stadium uses sheets to cover up the pitch anymore. Get with the system. Get those roll out tent-looking things. 2 min job."

BajanJonathan: "No way they will be able to resume this match. The pitch is soaked from all that rain that got on it. Couldn't help but laugh at ground-staff struggling with those high winds."

8.30pm While we wait for this shower to pass, let's take a look at Tamim Iqbal's exploits in this part of the world, specifically in the CPL last year, when he produced this cracker-jack of an innings for St Lucia Zouks.

Apparently winds have picked up to 45 kph.. known locally as a "tempest."

Yaseen: "Pulling down the covers against the wind was really funny :P I couldn't stop myself from laughing like a mad :P"

8.26pm It really was quite the scene, seeing what must have been a good 10-12 yellow-jacketed groundstaff doing their damndest to get the covers on. Haven't seen anything quite like that before. The rain is coming down by the bucketloads...

8.24pm Took the groundstaff a good two minutes to just get the covers on over the pitch, which is not good news as the rain would have penetrated the pitch during all that time. Hopefully they are able to minimise the damage...

The groundstaff are really, and I mean really, struggling to get the covers on as the wind is playing spoilsport, along with the rain, which is really driving in now.

8.17pm Tamim pulls away at the very last moment as Bravo is about to deliver, with the wind picking up quite a bit. Now all of a sudden the rain has just come heaving down. It has become quite torrential.

2.6
1
Santokie to Anamul, 1 run
