Presentation:

Mathews: "We witnessed a great match, esp the stand between Seekkuge and Sachitra, very pleasing to see how they fought. We knew that the dew would come into play so we were happy to chase. I thought it was still a pleasing performance so no need to panic."

Ali Inam: "Not sure if it's a post match presentation or a birthday party !!"

Hafeez is the Man of the Match: "It was much needed for me, Maqsood batted well, Sharjeel started well. I really wanted to do something in this game."

Misbah: "It was a much needed innings from Hafeez, Sharjeel a good prospect. We need to improve on the bowling and fielding, too many lapses. If the team is winning, I don't want to bat."

That's it from us here. Good start to the series. Join us for game 2 on Friday in Dubai. Thanks for your mails and company. Cheers!

End of match: Najam Sethi tweets: "Yaaaayyyyyy Team Pak wins again!!!!"

Pakistan win by 11 runs but make heavy weather of it. They were comfortably placed to win this comfortably but panic set in and a pair of attacking 40s from Prasanna and Senanayake really gave Sri Lanka hope. Pakistan just about made enough. Makes you wonder what could have been had at least one of Sanga, Chandimal or Mathews had carried on. Also, had Afridi bowled out his quota. Ask Misbah.

Dew may have been a factor. Will captains be more comfortable bowling first going forward?

Ali Wazir: "Although I'm a Pakistan fan, they way the Sri Lankans played, they deserved the victory a tad more than Pakistan. Congratulations to them for putting on such a great fight and a thrilling match!"

AB: "Pakistanis weren't playing to win, they were playing to not lose. There is a difference and that was apparent in this match!"

Junaid to Prasanna, OUT

the tension's over and Pakistan have won! Junaid fired this one full on the off stump, Prasanna made room looking to scoop it over the off side but it dipped and landed safely on Sharjeel's palms at mid-off

Junaid to Prasanna, 1 run, OUT

and we have a run out off the first ball! Junaid fires a length ball and Prasanna swings and mistimes it to deep midwicket, Malinga sets off for the second to get off strike but his partner is not interested seeing Bhatti's accurate throw to Akmal, Malinga turns around but it's too late

Tanvir to Senanayake, OUT

and the 12th man Anwar Ali takes it on the second attempt! Senanayake made room and scooped it over cover, didn't time it well, Anwar ran forward from sweeper cover, had it covered and the ball popped out, he had the presence of mind to stick his right hand out, turn around and take the catch, phew!

there are lots of cries for yorkers but Tanvir sticks to length, makes room and swings but misses, clears the stumps

Tanvir to Senanayake, 2 runs

bowls a good length outside off, makes room and places it wide of point, relief for pakistan as it's only two

Sharjeel Khan: "Junaid is the same bowler who bowl 6 yorkers in an over in South Africa but here they all are bowling short and juicy lengths."

Tanvir to Senanayake, SIX runs

Out of the stadium! Fetch that! This was bowled too full and was a slower ball too, stood at the crease and launched miles and miles over wide long-on

27 needed off 12, still in Pakistan's favour but they won't be in peace till they get a wicket

a six to spice things up further! This was banged in short, Prasanna backed away and connected the hook well, cleared long leg

47.4
Bhatti to Prasanna, no run

that's a good comeback by Bhatti to bowl a sharpo bouncer, followed Prasanna who backed away to slog that

Anwar K: "I don't understand Misbah's bowling decisions sometimes. Statistically, Afridi's been the best bowler this innings, and he's only bowled 7 overs."
