Impressive words from Yuvraj and really good to see him playing so well for India after the year he's had. India deserved their victory today and, although England can take one or two positives from the game, they have work to do before the second T20I on Saturday. Alex and I will be back for more of the same then - you guys stay classy.

10.20pm: Here we go, then, Ravi Shastri is introducing the dignitaries...

England captain, Eoin Morgan: "We lacked some discipline with the batting, Alex Hales did well but we lacked about 15-20 runs. We never seemed to get going, we lost wickets. We didn't get the early wickets but we always though we were in the game, and it's tough defending that score. We're a young side and we've shown a lot of promise, we'll have to pick ourselves up."

India's captain, MS Dhoni: "The pressure was on the bowlers, it was important from the eighth over onwards that we kept on top of things, Yuvraj was brilliant, I thought he bowled really well at the right time. I was a bit worried because they got off to a flying start but Ashwin bowled well in the first three overs. Every bowler apart from Yuvraj bowled one bad over but overall it was a good performance. In the shorter formats we have done quite well and it builds the confidence."

No surprises, Yuvraj Singh is named Man of the Match: "When it comes to T20 I like to express myself. I try to hit everything straight and see how it goes. I tried to bowl a bit slow, I thought that might help, tried not to give any loose balls. Chasing was a good idea because of the dew and the ball comes on later in the day. I just need to keep playing, keep hitting the ball straight. I want to play as much as possible, train harder, work harder."

10.05pm: India take their first step on the road to redemption after the Test series ... Okay, I'm kidding. But Shah Rukh Khan is certainly happy. India were better in all departments, their catching was good, they ran well and put on partnerships. England conceded too many extras with the ball after failing to build on the platform provided by Alex Hales' fifty. It's a simple game, folks. Yuvraj Singh should be Man of the Match for a tight, wicket-taking spell, followed by some tap with the bat... Poor Danny Briggs. We'll find out at the presentations in a few minutes.

Meaker to Dhoni, 2 runs, and it only takes one, Dhoni swings wildly, skews it over the infield towards deep cover, the fielder gives chase but they jog back for two, meaning India win by five wickets with 13 balls to spare

Two required from 14 balls now...

Meaker to Dhoni, FOUR runs, length in the channel, Dhoni stays in the crease and drives on the up through extra-cover, that fizzes away too and India are on the brink
Meaker to Dhoni, no run, bounces him again, takes the pace off, Dhoni stays in the crease, tries a tennis shot towards point, bottom-edges through to the keeper
Meaker to Dhoni, FOUR runs, banged in, fierce bouncer, all up in Dhoni's grill, he rocks back and smashes a pull shot through square, that went right off the middle

In comes Ravindra Jadeja, Dhoni still on strike

Meaker to Dhoni, OUT, on the stumps, Dhoni dabs it into the off side, Raina sets off but Dhoni aborts as Morgan races to his right at short cover, he's sliding as he collects and aiming at the stumps out the back of his hands but manages a direct hit! Terrific bit of fielding but England needed to do that five overs ago when Dhoni was the man struggling

SK Raina run out (Morgan) 26 (36m 19b 1x4 1x6) SR: 136.84

Meaker returns in place of Wright

Bresnan to Raina, 2 runs, on the pads, worked through backward square, they put pressure on the fielder, the throw is poor, Buttler has to leap to take it and that's a solid two

Raina gets a talking to from his captain. Chill, MS, it's all right, you're going to win

Bresnan to Dhoni, 1 run, full and straight, pushed to mid-on, who fields, knocks out middle stump at the non-striker's end ... but Dhoni is home, even wants a second, but Raina was lollygagging at the other end and the opportunity vanishes
Bresnan to Raina, 1 run, length ball, pushed across, dabs a single through the covers on the front foot

Wright to Dhoni, 1 run, gets a bit lucky here, takes the pace off a touch, Dhoni throws the bat and gets a thick inside edge to long leg
Wright to Raina, 1 run, full, aiming for the leg-stump yorker, Raina seeing it big and clips through backward square
Wright to Dhoni, 1 run, length ball, tailing in towards middle stump, glanced off the pads through square leg

"Extras not the only difference," grumbles Tim. "An easy dropped chance, and easy run out missed, set batsmen not posting a big score, several players simply not up to international standard - Bresnan and Dernbach to name but two!" Anything else, Tim?

Wright to Dhoni, no run, played back to the bowler from in front of the stumps
Wright to Dhoni, no run, short and outside off, Dhoni tries to flick this delicately through the leg side but only manages to dribble the ball to short midwicket
