And now we have confirmation that the game is abandoned. So unfortunately despite an absolute belter of surface, the weather has prevented any meaningful cricket on it. South Africa remain 1-0 up and now we move to Edgbaston on Wednesday to get this tour done and dusted. Monty and I will be back then, hope you can dial in to join us, until then enter Cricinfo Fantasty Cricket and stay dry...

10pm: Oh dear now it's hammering down and the players are walking off, this could be curtains...the umpires gave it a good go but this looks terminal now with 10.16pm the cut off time...but the cut off time is now irrelevant because there is no chance we are going back out, this is carnage now, worst weather of the day...we only need five over for a live ball game but by the time the rain stops and they clean things up it will be Tuesday morning...

4.1
W
Morkel to Wright, OUT

slower ball bumper, hooked down to deep backward square where it's well held by Morkel had to come in a few yards and to his left, in the end took it diving down...

49 from 30 balls needed, one more over and we have a game...and it's raining again...England need to be 41 if they don't lose another wicket...two down is 42 D/L score...heavier rain...

straight up in the air and what a take at mid on that is an absolute stunner. Peterson didn't get under it but dived full length at the last moment and took it with two hands, amazing effort. Kieswetter tried to drive a length ball over the top but put it high into the sky
