8.35pm: The game has been called off; South Africa win by 11 runs. So, a damp ending to a contest that threatened to spark into a classic. India's long spell on the road ends with another defeat ... but hey, at least everyone can look forward to the IPL now, eh?

8.30pm: Sky have just suggested that there may be an decision on whether to call the game off in the next five minutes or so. With the rain still falling, that's not good news for India.

8.25pm: Still raining, though it appears to be slowing down a touch ...

8pm: The super soppers are out but I suspect they might just be bobbing in the briny outfield at the moment. Firdose reckons the rain might be slowing up just a tad. It's the players who travel and toil and play, we and media need to watch and enjoy, from when has it become such a hard job to do and a lot to complain about?? 7.55pm: The rain is still sheeting down at The Wanderers. If they do get on, though, it'll probably help India, with the diminished total usually favouring the chasing side in T20s. Anyway, here's some local knowledge from Steven: "I live a few km's from the Wanderers. Usually the stubborn rain comes from my side hitting the ground 10min later, the opposite of tonight. Let's hope it's just a flash of rain and that we will get the remaining overs in. Excellent drainage at the ground. Otherwise dare I say ... It will be a pointless ending to a pointless match!"

And Kishor is thinking along the same lines: "After coming so far for just one T20, a washed away game would be a shame!"

They're going to stay on for now, I think. Nope, I'm 100% wrong - they're scampering off and the covers are coming in the other direction. India are currently behind on D/L by 11 runs, though hopefully this Jo'burg squall will blow over soon enough
