Post-match Presentations

Daniel Vettori: A really sad performance by us today, we needed to bat for a long time today but a dismal batting effort. I think 350 was par for the first innings so we were relatively happy when we walked off the field. I just think the decision making was poor. Wellington hasn't been a great venue for us but we need to hit the nets there and train hard. My blood tests have come back and they were all negative so i'm feeling a lot better but today was pretty terrible.

Misbah ul-Haq: It's a really good win for us, the team played well against South Africa so we wanted to go one step further and win a Test here. Everyone took responsibility and our lower order can bat well which is great. Wahab and Rehman bowled really fantastic lines when we were under pressure and all of a sudden the game is over. We haven't won a Test series for 5-6 years so we want to go to Wellington and do even better.

Man of the Match is Abdur Rehman: The pitch was good for me on the first day, and I was told by my coaches to use my pace more. My team needed me to bat well and I got a 50 v South Africa in Abu Dhabi, so I just went out there and tried my best.

Well no one expected the game to be over today after stumps on day 2. But New Zealand came out to bat in their second innings only 92 behind after they had ended the Pakistan innings, which had some good lower-order resistance, and would have expected to have had the lead by tonight with the expectation of building it tomorrow. They did have the lead, but only after they were eight down. A simple summary of the innings says that when Chris Martin outscores four players, you are going to be in trouble and so it proved for New Zealand. Pakistan deserve credit today though for their relentless pressure with line and length, meaning that when the ball began to reverse it was only a matter of time.

That concludes our live coverage of this match, but do check out Sid's bulletin which he will be rustling up now while Andrew Fernando will have the Plays of the Day and quotes from the press conference for you to have a peek at later on.

Do cross over to our live coverage of the IPL auction with George Binoy, Sharda Ugra and Akhila Ranganna as the bidding enters its second day.

Thanks for joining us, hope you enjoyed the coverage and that you will join us for the South Africa-India Twenty20 International later tonight. From me though, on behalf of scorer Sanjay Murari and our commentators for the first two days Siddharth Ravindran and Sriram Veera, this is Avi Singh signing off. Sayonara!
