9.27 pm The game has been called off. That's it from us. Thanks for logging on. On behalf of Binoy George and Gopi, our scorers, this is Sriram Veera signing off. And hold your anger against Duckworth and Lewis. Charming people, both of them! Ta Ta!

And It has started to rain! The crowd boo as the umpires stop play. It's pouring now

Brett Steinert: "The weather will be fine for Brisbane at least."

9. 19 pm. The players are out there. Here we go.

151 to win from 24 overs.

Paul: "hi guys am at homebush, in Sydney and the rain is bucketing down, only 7 miles from ground."

John: "It's not a question of not finishing. The rain looks just minutes away - I doubt we'll even restart."

9.03 pm It will be a 9.20 pm start! And it will be a 24-over game. 151 to win. So let's see whether rain stays away. 151 to win. One bowler will be able to bowl 4, four can bowl 5 overs.

Our Sydney fans are not too hopeful though. Mails are coming in saying how the game won't finish as storm will hit at some point. Hmmm...

9.00 pm There is a talk of making it a 21-over game. The Australians are out there near the boundary. the umpires are checking the pitch.

And Tony T ... nice try but I have to keep my job!

8.53 pm There is an inspection scheduled for 9.00 pm. Just a few minutes away. Let's see what decision they take. Meanwhile, elsewhere, after three wins on the trot, Afghanistan are in a bit of a bother in their Super Four game against Netherlands in the ICC World Twenty20 qualifiers. Follow that game here

Glenn sends us a chuckle: "joke time? A grasshopper walks into a bar, and the barman says, "Hey, we've got a drink named after you!". The grasshopper says, "What, Kevin?" Ha! Loverly!

8.40 pm No luck yet folks. While you wait, here is something that some one sent me now: "Two polar bears are perched on a block of floating ice. One says to the other: "Do you know, I keep thinking it's Thursday..."

8.23 pm Cricket Australia website says "play doesn't look promising at the moment ... it looks like the rain is set in here, "

8.00 pm Bad news. Rain again folks. Full covers back on. Here we go again. Oh well.

Jeff pings us: "Looking at the rain radar its game over!" Hmmm....

7.50 pm The big cover is coming off. The groundstaff are out there doing what they do. There is some water logging around the square area.

7.47 pm. Rain has stopped for now. Umpires have gone to edge of the covers. And the Super-sopper is out there as well. The ground is pretty wet. Let's see whether the Super-sopper can do its magic.

7.30 pm Still raining. We will keep you updated in case of any further development.

More rain. Play stopped. The players head back to the hut.

Bollinger to Gayle, 4 byes

This one threatens to knock out Gayle. It flew at his face, Gayle couldn't get away from it or so it seemed before he ducked at the very last minute and the ball flew over the helmet and the keeper. Nasty delivery.
