Indians are in a huddle now. They break away. Gary Kirsten, India's coach, walks out and is enveloped by hugs from his players as they walk out. Several of you have demanded that Karthik should be sacked and Parthiv Patel given a chance. The next Test is on 8th August. I guess that will be the spot that will be discussed by the team management very seriously.

Hang on for a short while, we will bring you the quotes from the post-match ceremony.

Mahela: They played really good cricket. They knew it was a crucial game for them and came back strong. Sehwag played really well in the first innings and Harbhajan bowled well. We need to come back strongly in the next Test. 307 on this wicket was a gettable score but the middle order couldn't get it together after the three quick wickets in the top. It was a close game. Ishant showed that when you hit the deck and the right areas, questions can be asked of the batsman. It's nice to see Mendis progressing well along with Mendis. Credit to the bowlers; it's the batting that let us down.

Kumble: I always had faith in the team. We have done it {coming back from a first-Test loss] before. We have quality in the team; there is no doubt about that. Sehwag and Gambhir gave us good starts and Harbhajan bowled brilliantly. Ishant bowled really well. There are couple of areas to improve but overall very satisfied with the result. The review is a good system, there are couple of areas to look into and captains will sit together to discuss.

Man of the Match Sehwag: The double hundred came in at a good time. We needed some runs on the board. I love to bat long. When you flop in the last three innings, you need to make up. I love to play my shots; I am enjoying my cricket. I didn't feel much pressure as the captain and the coach gave me good support.

That's it from us. On behalf of the scores, Srinivas Raju and Binoy George, this is Sriram Veera, signing off. Join us on August 8th for the final Test. Good bye and good luck.

Kumble to Murali, OUT

He has driven straight back to Kumble. The Indian players rush to their captain. Gambhir is the first before he darts quickly to grab a stump as souvenir. Indians have rebounded in style after the first-Test loss. The series is alive and kicking. The wonderful roller coaster of a Test has come to a halt.

Harbhajan to Mendis, OUT

The end is near. Ten wicket haul for Harbhajan. Mendis swats a delivery turning in from short of length with bounce straight to mid-on. Poor Samaraweera is being deserted by his team-mates

Naresh: "Zaheer Khan was demoted to No. 11 for his atrocious shot when he needed to support Sehwag in the first innings. I think Prasanna Jayawardane needs the same medicine. What was he thinking, new at the crease with a 7-2 onside field?"

Kumble to Kulasekara, OUT

Kumble hastens the end. It was flighted on the middle and leg line, the batsman tried to turn it through the on side and got a leading edge to Ishant at mid-off.

big turn and kept low. I reckon it's the biggest Kumble has ever turned the ball. It landed around middle, perhaps even middle and leg stump and turned big well outside the off stump and hit the right boot of Karthik.

Tariq:: "Need clarification regarding events related to ball 40.1 of SL's second innings on which batsman asked for a review of lbw decision although there is no mention of batsman having being given out."

I had written that the batsman has asked for the review and assumed it made clear that he was given out by the umpire and so he asked for the Review. Apologies if it wasn't clear.

given out lbw. It was flighted full on the middle and off stump line, Vaas stretched forward and he stepped on the ball with his right foot, trying to reach the pitch of the ball. The ball dipped full on the boot. It hit him in the line and full; in those cases, you have to assume it goes straight with the angle. You take the spin out of the picture. Umpire reckoned it would have hit the off stump. The third umpire would have had a tricky time had the batsman gone for the review
