Medium-pacer Subashis Roy had exceptional figures of 5 for 24 to send Sri Lanka Under-19 crashing to a 49-run loss in Fatullah, and more importantly, clinching the series win for Bangladesh U-19 with one match to go.
Bangladesh managed only 167 runs after opting to bat, and were staring at defeat when Sri Lanka were cruising at 65 without loss in the tenth over. Roy then struck to remove Dilshan Munaweera, who top scored for the visitors with 40, before removing the other opener Lokuge Chandimal with the score on 78.
Roy wasn't finished though, and went on to pick three of the next four Sri Lanka wickets to fall to leave them struggling at 95 for 6. The lower-order hung around for a few overs, but runs came at a slow trickle. Two run-outs didn't aid the cause, as Sri Lanka were skittled for 118 in 36.5 overs.
Earlier, it was the three contributions in the forties from the middle-order that propped up the Bangladesh innings. Nadimuddin followed up his top score of 66 in the previous game with 41, while Nasir Hossain once again fell in the forties. No. 5 Marshall Ayub was unbeaten on 42, but none of the other Bangladesh batsmen managed double digits as they were bowled out in 48 overs. For Sri Lanka, the spinners did the damage, with left-arm spinner Navin Kavikara taking 3 for 22 while offspinner Imesh Udayanga had figures of 2 for 27 from his ten overs.
