South Africa have won by a whopping 358 runs and take an unassailable 1-0 lead in the two-Test series. Shane Bond was deemed unfit to come out and bat due to his abdominal strain. So Steyn finishes with match figures of 10 for 93 - his fourth five-wicket haul in Tests and first ever ten-wicket tally. This victory is South Africa's largest margin of victory in terms of runs. The previous best was the victory by 356 runs against England at Lord's in 1994.

That rounds up a clinical performance by the home side. New Zealand, playing their first Test after a long hibernation of nearly 10 months, appeared rusty as soon as they came out to bat on the first day. The pitch was ideal for Test cricket - there was something in it for the bowlers and batsmen. Amla and Kallis made full use of the pitch as soon as it eased out and carved out big hundreds. We're ready for the presentation. We'll take you through that...

Boucher gets an award for passing 400 Test dismissals on the tour of Pakistan. Kallis as well, for passing 9000 Test runs in this game.

Vettori, the losing captain, speaks: "We were pleased with how we bowled. But against a side like South Africa our scores weren't enough. The batting has been a bit of a struggle throughout the tour."

Smith says: "We took a bit of gamble batting first here and they bowled really well. But it was a good decision in the end. I'm proud of the way the guys have performed so far in this season starting with the Pakistan tour."

Dale Steyn is the Man of the Match for his match figures of 10 for 93. Here's a stat by HRG: "Steyn is the third South African bowler to capture ten or more wickets in a match against New Zealand. Others are SF Burke and M Ntini."

The teams now head to Centurion for the second Test starting on Friday November 16. The conditions are expected to be the same there as well and New Zealand will have to somehow regroup and square the series. Kyle Mills will replace the injured Shane Bond, who's likely to miss the entire tour.

We hope you enjoyed the coverage. I enjoyed bringing this game to you in the midst of this crowded international calendar, with Australia, Sri Lanka, India and Pakistan facing off in different parts of the world at the same time.

On behalf of the scorers, Ros and Raghav, this is Kanishkaa Balachandran signing off. Cheers!

Steyn to O'Brien, OUT

Fantastic reflex catch... Steyn dishes out a slower ball on the pads, O'Brien flicks uppishly, Amla at forward short-leg gets a hand to it, the ball rebounds off his palms and lobs up. He turns around quickly, takes it on the second attempt and the fielders celebrate. There's a bit of doubt as O'Brien stands his ground as he felt the ball hit Amla's visor before catching it. The third umpire finally rules him out.
