In the dark, to get 42 from 26 balls was a supreme effort from Inzamam, but the steady hands of Younis and Yousuf steadied the ship after the loss of the openers. For England, Lewis bowled an exceptional spell, much like Mohammad Asif did for Pakistan earlier in the day, but that was about it. With the D/L method coming in to play during the rain-reduced England innings and the miserably overcast Pakistan chase, it was not an entire day's cricket but we atleast have a result to kick the series alive.

England have some issues to sort out - batting, bowling - and they will desperately need to improve their ODI game with some key fixtures lined up in the coming season. Pakistan will have taken some solid confidence from this win after losing the Test series. Overall, a lack of confidence on England's part was their outdoing and Pakistan's fiery pace attack came together early and their depth in batting stepped it up in testing conditions.

Today's Man of the Match is Shoaib Akhtar for his awesome spell of 4 for 28 that helped dismantle England earlier in the day.

Three games to go in this NatWest Series, do join us for Cricinfo's continued coverage of the contest when the third match begins at Southampton on Tuesday. Until then, this is Jamie Alter signing off with a hearty cheers and good night!

thats it, all over, in the slot outside off and its lazily driven through the covers for four to seal the deal! Its been an overcast, gloomy day but Pakistan have outclassed England with bat and ball. Chasing 167 to win, they reached home with seven wickets to spare, key knock from Younis, Yousuf and Inzamam worth their weight in gold, and Pakistan take a 1-0 series lead
