That's it from us. Thanks for your company. From Danyal and me, it's good evening and get outta here.

"With the new ball, there was a little bit of seam movement, not too much swing," says Kane Williamson. "We didn't get too much from the spinners but hopefully we can get them some work in the second warm-up game. It was quicker in the first innings than the second innings, it got slower later on. Obviously, warm-up games don't carry the same intensity, but it was good for us. Henry's good, he can bat at the top and in the middle. And with Tom's finger being injured, we wanted to have Munro up there to give us options. Facing a quality side like India and scoring some runs is always good"

"Didn't go to plan. Good challenge up front though. We can expect that in some places in England when conditions are overcast. We saw that in the later half of the innings, when the lower order got stuck in. From 50 for 4 to get to 180 was a good effort. And of course, there wasn't much in the pitch when we came ot bowl," Kohli says. "In a tournament like the World CUp, the top order can go off sometimes, so Hardik getting runs, MS absorbing pressure and Jadeja's fifty, those were good positives. We bowled well - they were going at 4, 4.5 per over - and looking at that in isolation we did well. Fielders are going to play a crucial role, half chances will be massive. We'll have to be precise in all three departments"

"Felt rusty at the start," says Ross Taylor. "Getting over jetlag and everything. But that's why we warm up. Definitely a little bit in there, a bit of swing. Been a lot of talk about big scores, but if the ball does swing like that, it'll be great. Didn't see the sun as often as I saw today from when I got here. Bowlers had a good hit. Haven't played for a long time as a team. The second game against West Indies would be good too. [The sharp catch to dismiss Bhuvi] I didn't really see it, but I'll take it"

4.40 pm Early night for all at The Oval then. New Zealand must have had fun out there, first bowling on the pitch when it was at its most helpful, and then batting on it when it had dried out under the sunshiine. Trent Boult was practically unplayable. Ross Taylor and Kane Williamson were unflappable. Good performance all round, but they will know that this result won't really count for much, if only because such spicy pitches are very unlikely to be seen in the tournament proper

Virat Kohli and his team are in good spirits despite the "loss". The fast bowlers were protected. The spinners, especially Kuldeep, needed some overs under their belt and they've done that, although I think the left-arm spinner is bowling a little slower (70kph) than is ideal in English conditions. Chahal though hit the right pace, somewhere in the 85 kph range and got a lot more purchase off the pitch.
