West Indies vs Afghanistan, 2nd ODI at Lucknow, WI in IND, Nov 09 2019 - Ball by Ball Commentary
9:56pm That is all from our live coverage. See you for the final ODI!
Nicholas Pooran is the Man of the Match. And he feels good about the series win. Not too many words from him.
Pollard: Feels good. Long time, we haven't won a series. It was on our mind back home. The batting conditions were good, the wicket was a bit dry. They played four spinners because of it. In the middle order we faltered a bit after the opening stand but can't fault the boys. Young Pooran did well, and good to see Hetmyer get some runs. We just want to soak in the feeling of winning a series. We're going to enjoy the series win, but then it's back to business come day after. [The flies] I've never played in front of so many flies. Health is very important. Something's got to be done about that.
Rashid: We started well. The first 40 overs we bowled well. After that, we lost the momentum. Credit goes to Pooran, the way he smashed. But on this wicket, 247 was still chaseable. The only plan we had for them was to keep bowling dot balls and they would make mistakes. After getting the first wicket, our focus was bowling dot balls and knew they would come at us and we would get chances. [The partnership of Najib and Nabi] It was a good stand but players like that have to take us to victory. I think we have the talent, we need to believe in ourselves. I think that is what we are lacking and once we get that, we can beat any side.

9:41pm This is West Indies' first series win since August 2014. That was 21 series ago. Nothing else really needs to be said to explain the significance of this result. At the other end, Afghanistan are developing something of an unwanted streak themselves. It is now 11 ODI losses in a row. For considerable chunks of this match, they could have claimed they were ahead. But once again, when it came to the batting, the skills and temperament weren't sustained.
