Scorecard
Western Australia's seamers made a fearful mess of Tasmania to complete an enormous victory for the Warriors in the day-night Sheffield Shield match at the WACA ground.
In the only one of the opening three Shield fixtures to make it into a fourth day, the Tigers were set 365 to win after Mitchell Marsh's declaration, but were never in the contest following a rush of wickets against the new pink ball that was so dramatic as to reduce the visitors to 9 for 35 in the 17th over. Incumbent Test wicketkeeper Matthew Wade one of the batsmen caught up in the maelstrom.
A modicum of face was saved by the last pair of Beau Webster and Andrew Fekete, who added 28, but they served only to slightly reduce the margin of defeat against a WA side that carried on the momentum of a win in the domestic limited-overs tournament that started the season.
Wickets were shared evenly by the Warriors, but the national selectors will be most pleased with the performance of Nathan Coulter-Nile, who looms as a likely reserve option behind the first-choice pace trio of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins.
