Scorecard
Rain in Melbourne doused any hopes for either Tasmania or Victoria to press for victory on the final day of the Sheffield Shield match at the MCG.
Set to resume at 2 for 67 in pursuit of another 386 to win, the Bushrangers' overnight pair of Glenn Maxwell and Peter Handscomb were made to wait through morning showers before an early lunch was called.
When play finally did commence, Handscomb was soon out to Gabe Bell, and the further losses of Aaron Finch and Dan Christian left Maxwell running out of partners. As it was the captains agreed to call off the match with more showers circling.
Maxwell's patient and unbeaten 45 arrived after the national selectors has chosen their team for the first Ashes Test but before it is announced on Friday morning. Alex Doolan won the match award for his second-innings double-century, which allowed the Tigers to dictate terms after a low-scoring first innings.
