Full commentary

11:10pm: Mike Hussey walks into a guard of honour again. The trophy is handed over to Mike Hussey and coach Paddy Upton. More fireworks at the MCG. Will's report will tell you the full story.

Michael Hussey who had described his backyard clashes with David as "basically us two beating each other up" takes the title tonight. Sydney Thunder Women join Mike Hussey's men and celebrate. Many thanks for joining us. Hope you enjoyed our coverage as much as we did bringing to you. This is Deivarayan Muthu signing off on the behalf of Nikhil Kalro and Chandan Duorah

Presentation

Travis Head is the young gun of the BBL

Chris Lynn is the Player of the tournament

Usman Khawaja, Player of the Match: I don't think that is possible (is he batting better than Lara, as Mark Waugh said on TV commentary?). Credit to the guys.

David Hussey: We were one step closer. We got off the semi-final hoodoo. Not so sure if I will be back in charge. I will congratulate Jacques Kallis if he doesn't come back. Mike, you have won tonight. You are an icon of the game. Hope you stay involved with the game.

Mike Hussey walks into a guard of honour given by kids

Mike Hussey (again): It has been a great journey. To reach the summit is pretty special. I should thank the back-room staff. Thanks to the fans at the MCG. Thank you to the Stars as well. We have a lot of respect and admiration for them. I think we have a nicely balanced team. When you have three of the world's best allrounders, it makes my job special. I was actually annoyed with myself for playing a silly shot. Then I wanted to soak it up for one more time.

Mike Hussey: It feels fantastic. What a performance. Usman Khawaja was fantastic. I can't believe it. We have won the Big Bash. We had a plan; it was to build sustainable success. Happy Birthday, Mum. Hope you are not too disappointed for Dave

Jacques Kallis: It was good fun. The success is down to hard work and we got some luck along the way. Khawaja has been good for the last few games. He never gives it away. That is the most impressive thing about him.

Shane Watson: It is incredible, from where we were a couple of years ago. It all clicked nicely and it's no surprise that things worked. The way Khawaja is batting; it's another level. Wherever they bowl, he can hit it wherever he wants.

10:45pm: From finishing eighth in the first three seasons and seventh in the previous one, Thunder have come a long way. What a turnaround!

Khawaja set up the chase of 177, with another fifty. Thunder were caught in a muddle in the middle overs, having lost three wickets in three overs, including Mike Hussey and Russell, but Rohrer carried his side home with three balls to spare in a tight finish. Mike Hussey is joined by his kids and his brother David. Plenty of smiles there. Do stick around for the presentation.

Faizan: "Congrats Sydney Thunder... Kudos to the team, well deserved.... "

Melvin: "This is like Thunder's 11th win in the whole BBL and now they are the champions !"

La: "Wow Sydney thunder. #ThankyouHussey"
