The rain refused to let off in Adelaide, meaning that Adelaide Strikers and Sydney Thunder had to share a point each. The showers were persistent throughout the evening, and following a delayed start, the Thunder inserted the Strikers at Adelaide Oval.
The game was reduced to 10 overs a side, and the Strikers made their intention clear right from the off, as the batsmen looked for the big shots. Strikers lost five wickets playing attempting strokes, but were rewarded with 10 sixes from their innings as the the team, led by a late 11-ball 30 from Alex Ross, posted 5 for 119.
Thunder could manage only one over in reply, scoring 18 runs off Kane Richardson, before the rain came pouring in again, forcing the umpires to take the players off the field and call off the match.
Despite the washout, Strikers had already sealed a place in the top four.
