Dravid ends the match with a six, valiant but futile, he jumps down the track, gets to the pitch of the ball and lofts it straight over the bowler's head for six more, he finishes with 75 off 36 balls and has shown his team-mates up
RR vs RCB, 39th match at Jaipur, IPL, May 17 2008 - Ball by Ball Commentary
7.30 pm local time: Rajasthan have virtually secured a semi-final spot by winning their eighth match out of ten. Today's victory has been emphatic, by a margin of 65 runs. They set it up with a sold batting performance - Smith and Asnodkar scored fifties and Watson contributed as well to set a target of 198.
Their bowlers came out strongly and reduced Bangalore to 5 for 3 to effectively end Bangalore's challenge. Dravid played a sole hand - scoring 75 off 36 balls . Kallis' painful 20 off 29 balls was the next highest score.
Bangalore were appalling today: their bowling was haphazard, they bowled far too short and on both sides of the wicket. They managed to take only one Rajasthan wicket but they could have had a few more if their fielding and catching wasn't so sloppy. Their batsmen came out without a plan and didn't even begin to make a fight of the chase. They're out of the reckoning for the semi-finals.
Dravid wins the award for the most sixes.
Dravid: "We were outplayed. It was a great effort from them to get to 197. I don't think we fielded or bowled well. We needed a start like they got and after we were 5 for 3 we were always chasing the game."
Warne receives the purple cap for becoming the highest wicket-taker of the tournament. He thinks Watson is the player of the tournament so far and credits Smith and Asnodkar for a fantastic partnership at the top.
Graeme Smith is the Man of the Match for his 75 off 49 balls. He batted through the 20 overs in the extreme heat. No wonder he didn't come out to field at the start of the run-chase.
Right, I'm done for the evening. Kanishkaa Balachandran is on commentary for the Delhi-Punjab match, which begins at 8.00 pm local time. Hopefully that game will be closer than this was. Thank you for all your emails. This is George Binoy saying goodbye for now.
Dravid charges and tries to loft down the ground, he gets an inside edge and the ball runs towards the fine leg boundary where Tanvir makes one of the worst attempts to field the ball that I have ever seen
driven towards cover and again he doesn't take the single
Dravid clears his front foot out of the way and lofts the ball to long on and once again refuses the single
Dravid gets down on one knee and pulls towards deep midwicket, he refuses the single
Dravid goes inside out and lofts the ball over extra cover for four more
This is the last over.
caught! It's all over, or perhaps it isn't. Razzak tries to slog the ball down the ground and hits the ball flat and hard towards mid-on where Trivedi dives forward to take a low catch, it's a low catch and Razzak stands his ground because he is unsure whether Tribedi caught it, Bowden asks for the third umpire and we're now looking at replays ... it's been given not out, low catches referred to the third umpire are rarely given out.
Tanvir fires in the yorker on off and middle stump, Razzak defends and gets an inside edge on to the pad
Abdur Razzak is the last batsman for Bangalore.
caught! Tanvir pitches the ball short of a length and gets it to lift sharply into Kumble who tries to run the ball to third man, but only manages a nick through to Rawat who takes an easy catch
Dravid drives the ball through covers for a single
Dravid makes room by moving towards leg and lofts inside out over extra cover, Watson fields on the boundary
Kumble plays the ball awkwardly towards long-off, he was beaten by the slower one
Bangalore need 84 off two overs. That's purely academic of course.
Dravid tries to play the paddle sweep but misses and gets hit on the pad
Jadeja goes over the wicket.
Dravid makes room by moving his front foot out of the way and slogs the ball into the gap at deep midwicket, he's playing some innings here, partly out of anger and frustration I suspect
driven off the front foot towards long-off for one more
Dravid tries to cut through point but the ball is too close to him and he gets an edge to short third man
Kumble cuts off the back foot towards deep point
fired into the block hole, Kumble digs it out on the off side
Jadeja, the U-19 left-arm spinner, comes into the attack, bowling from round the wicket.
that's the third one on the roof! Dravid charges Yusuf and lofts him cleanly through the line over deep midwicket, he brings up his 50 with that shot, 53 off 25 balls, Dravid is showing up his team-mates here, he could have done with a lot more support
he's hit another one on to the roof, Dravid clears his front foot out of the way against and slog-sweeps the ball with the spin over deep square leg, massive hit
