Presentation:
Kumar Sangakkara: "I think we spoke about in the dressing room about competing hard and scrapping through worked out in the middle, I am proud of the boys. We did well in the second half, but we were a few runs short while batting first. We can probably play a lot better than this and we need to keep our feet on the ground. It means a lot for this a new team and thanks to the fans. "
Angelo Mathews: "We started off brilliantly and the bowlers bowled well to keep them to less than 130. We were a bit slow to start the chase, lessons are learnt and we need to move on. We have got 15 more games and I have the confidence in my team."
Amit Mishra is the Man of the Match for his 3 for 19:"I am very happy with the way I bowled, I went for wickets and got success. There was a little bit of turn in the pitch and so I went for the wickets. We were short of some runs and we had no other option but to go for wickets."
Perera gets an award for hitting most sixes, Akshath Reddy gets an award for being an innovative thinker (yes it is true)..
Who saw this coming! Kris Srikkanth does an impression of 'i told you so' near the boundary, but this has been an absolute treat of a bowling exhibition. Steyn was miserly at the start, Ishant was a good support to him, then Mishra was at his best in the middle and Reddy proved his worth too. And Perera, how can you ever keep him out of the game!
Dale Steyn: "For once, good to have a winning start. The guys showed a lot of character with bat and ball. It wasn't a free-flowing wicket and all we had to do was bowl well. We bowled bloody well"
Sammy tweets:"Brilliant brilliant perfect teamwork by @SunRisers..well done simply amazing.. #neversaydie attitude in full effect..."
Vamsi: "Devastating pace statement from Steyn - shows why a bowler like him is worth every penny in the IPL."
Anusha: "Hyderabad becomes the land of midnight sun.. #almost"
Shashank Gupta: "I'm sure most of the people who predicted that PWI are going to maul the Sun Risers, are ready to go and hide their faces! Including me!"
kishore: "Sunrisers are top of the table. Take a screenshot, you wont see that again.."
Srini: "El Capitano did the right thing - remain on board till the ship sinks"
sam: "Can someone please assuage a fellow who had Pandey, Yuvraj and Angelo in his team."
length delivery beats the bat as the batsman hangs his bat .. misses the stumps, the batsman was actually getting away from the line of the ball
Steyn on a hat-trick
oh no! Was this a replay! No it wasn't. Bhuvi gave a sample of what not to do, but Rahul rehearses it again, this time he loses his leg stump..
Rahul Sharma is the new man, El Capitano watches the show from the other end..
the leg stump takes a beating! Steyn has been spewing fire but he wasn't able to do any damage. Now he joins in the fun. Bhuvi makes room by moving outside leg but this length ball is too quick for him, the leg stump is pulled out of the ground and Bhuvi goes back with head hung low in disappointment
bowls a quick full delivery outside off, the batsman punches it to long-off
Steyn it is..
dropped at long-on! low full-toss on off stump is smacked right down the ground and Vihari comes forward and dives forward, spills a tough chance
Sam: "Josephian mafia has something to sort out now!"
low full-toss outside off, the batsman stretches forward and punches it to deep cover
slower delivery on the stumps, the batsman goes straight down the ground to long-on
low full-toss outside off, slightly slower too, the batsman ends up pushing it towards long-on
Ravi: "That is not the Captains Knock I asked in my earlier comment :("
he finds the boundary off a short of a length delivery, he goes for a front-arm jab and beats the man at long-on
Bhuvi is the new man.. He can bat a bit too..
oh my god! Angelo runs his partner out! It was a low full-toss on off and Angelo smacks it right back at the bowler who sticks his hand out and deflects the ball back onto the stumps, Marsh was miles outside the crease. Perera takes a blow to his hands but he has sent back another batsman from this never-ending batting line up
Perera comes in now..
slower delivery outside off, but this is too short and Marsh lines himself up and goes with a golf swing over the bowler's head with a lot of power
another slower delivery on the pads, the batsman adjusts late and defends it to the leg side
length delivery outside off, the batsman goes inside out and chips it in the air towards deep cover, luckily for him, he doesn't time it too well
length delivery outside off, the batsman comes forward and drives it to deep cover
he has been done in! The stumps are splayed! It was the back-of-the-hand slower ball on the stumps, Taylor goes across the line towards his favourite area around midwicket, is completely beaten by that one and hears the ugly clatter from behind..
bowls a good slower ball on the stumps, the batsman dabs it in the vast space on the leg side with soft hands, easy couple
Saurabh: "Bowling choices would be interesting to watch now..!!"
naimur: "many can praise mathews' captaincy but now the batting line up looks really shaky why not send those early who can hit the ball long like M.Marsh?"
Paul: "Got to admit that (at this point) I'm eating my words......should the Sunrisers be renamed HyderaGood?!"
flatter delivery on the pads, the batsman sweeps it hard to deep backward square leg for a single
44 runs, 25 balls, How did it ever come to this? Anyway, El Capitano is the new man..
Rohit Raghavan: "Time is ripe for a Taylor blitzkrieg. Have fond memories of Taylor finishing the match off in style than putting up a good total."
caught at extra cover! It's Nayar's turn to go now. Beautiful loopy delivery outside off stump, the batsman comes down the pitch, but has to wait a little for the ball. He tries to cane it down the ground but gets a thick leading edge that lobs up for a gently catch at extra cover for Ishant Sharma..
quicker delivery on the pads, the batsman flicks it to deep midwicket for a couple
