The match was built up really well and in the end, it turned out to be a thriller. Kolkata looked like getting to 180 at one stage, but were restricted to 150 thanks to a good spell of bowling from Mathews and Bhuvneswar Kumar. Gambhir was the star of the show with a 36-ball 56.

Chasing 151, Ganguly and Mathews overcame a poor start to bring them back into contention but the untimely wicket of Pune pushed the side back. In the end, the brilliance of Sunil Narine, who conceded only 13 from his four, meant that Pune needed 18 off the last. Fell short by seven runs.

Presentation:

Gautam Gambhir: The turnout was fantastic, the crowd was supporting both teams. Was important for us to take the advantage in the first few overs because we knew that the pitch was going to slow down. We need to do better otherwise in the second half of the innings. Lot of credit to the bowlers for the way they defended the low score.

Souav Ganguly: We are getting close, but not getting over the line, good to play at Eden Gardens. Lost too many wickets at the start, Narine bowled superbly, if wasn't there we would have probably won the game. We need to bat well at the top of the innings. Need to start performing in the middle, talks are okay but need to start winning.

Sunil Narine is the man of the match. 1/13 in four overs.

19.6
de Lange to Bhuvneshwar, no run

full-toss from de Lange and he can only get it to short cover, that is five losses in a row for Pune. Gambhir looks very pumped after the win, mouthing off a few unmentionables as well in the process.

de Lange to Bhuvneshwar, FOUR runs

surprise bouncer, he goes for the pull and that takes the top-edge over the wicket-keeper for a four. Eight still needed for the win and they have one ball to go

de Lange to Angelo Mathews, OUT

full-toss and that has been caught brilliantly under pressure! The umpires have referred it to the third umpire and replays show that it has been caught rather well, Mathews took it well on the full and was drilled it back to long-on where Shukla picks up a beauty

Jose P: "Was the pitch different for Gambhir???"

de Lange to Bhuvneshwar, FOUR runs

pitched up, almost a yorker and that has been dug out rather well, drilled over extra-cover for a four! Excellent shot keeps Pune in the game.

de Lange to Angelo Mathews, 1 run

slog attempted over mid-wicket but the pace does not allow him to time it too well, goes to the fielder for a single

Narine has given away only 13 from his four overs, to go with a wicket. 18 needed off the last, de Lange will bowl it.

13 matches won in the last over this season.

Narine to Parnell, 1 run, OUT

gone, run-out? Tried the sweep, got it well in the middle and they easily get a single, but Mathews wanted a second, Parnell was a bit apprehensive of it and that costs him his wicket. Good throw from Shukla in the deep. Bill Bowden did not call for the third umpire, but it was close enough.

Praveen: "Even Ra.One is looking better for SRK when compared with Yusuf Pathan." Ouch!

22 from 12 is anybody's game, especially with Mathews still there. They needed 16 off 12 last game though.

Bhatia to Ganguly, OUT

gone, caught at mid-wicket! Shorter one, pulled away and had that hit the middle it would have gone the distance, but the problem was the lack of pace, he fails to get it where he would have wanted, loops up to deep mid-wicket for a single

full-toss and Ganguly has hit it hard, but mistimed it, goes to long-off on a bounce, the bat's cracked I think and Ganguly's cross. Hits his bat hard with his gloves. Probably that is what cracked the bat.
