MI vs RCB, 37th match at Mumbai, IPL, Apr 27 2013 - Match Result

This match was all about that new ball spell from Malinga and Johnson to Gayle. That was high-intensity cricket, perhaps the best phase of cricket this season of the IPL. Every year there is plenty of mediocre cricket in the IPL, but Malinga and Johnson knew how they wanted to handcuff Gayle and carried out the plan perfectly. After the initial pressure, Dhawal Kulkarni and Harbhajan Singh took out the big four of RCB's batting and the match fizzled out.

Rohit Sharma: "We pretty much did everything well today, right from the batting and we finished off pretty well. Special mention to Dhawal Kulkarni, first game for him, it was a tremendous effort from him. I just don't want to get carried away too much."

Man of the Match is Dwayne Smith: "We didn't have a good start at the top in the first couple of games... It was a very good pitch."

Gautam: "Dhawal should change his last name. There was once a bowler called Raju Kulkarni who played for Mumbai. Despite consistent performances and being picked for India for a couple of Test matches, he was not given a long run. The same is the case with Dhawal. He is fast medium, bowls swing, and could be a good bowler for India. They picked him once to NZ, but never played him and unceremoniously dropped him for Unadkat (I think)."

Ujjawal Agarwal: "I pity those who took Gayle, Kohli, ABD, Malinga, Johnson in their Fantasy teams and thought themselves to be masters of hedging.."

Rahul: "There should have been a "Win Declare" option for this match. RCB would have given up the moment they lost their top 4 so early :P"
