he seals it with a six at Wankhede, similar shot to Dhoni's! Pitched up and he launched it to the wide long-on boundary for maximum, CSK romp home
MI vs CSK, 12th match at Mumbai, IPL, Apr 17 2015 - Match Result
CSK won by 6 wickets (with 20 balls remaining)
11.35pm CSK have chased down 184 with 20 balls to spare, that tell a story. Even though their pacers' work was undone by Pollard and Rohit in the second half of the innings, Dwayne Smith and McCullum shattered any kind of hopes that Mumbai would have had. Their opening stand of 109 in under eight overs simply snatched the match away. Individual strike rates of over 200 would have demoralised Mumbai even further to hand them their fourth straight loss.
Rohit Sharma: Our attitude was not right. To bat and get 184 was par on this track. We didn't execute the bowling plans well, there's no way they could get 90 in six overs, that's where they won it. We need to go back and see what we are doing wrong. If you don't win then there's something wrong in the combination which we have been trying to get right. We are not thinking of our next game right now, we need to relax and take it easy.
Dhoni: I was more worried about my bowling than Mumbai's batting order. We have not been rigid with our plans and reacted well to their changes. Their plan would have been to accelerate with Bhajji scoring runs. We knew he would play the big shots but find turning strike difficult so we were looking to bowl dot bowls. If you are looking to bat first then you have to see how your unit is batting recently. 180-190 was par and the first few overs were brilliant from our side which won us the match.
Man of the Match Ashish Nehra: I've been working hard and in T20s you bowl well but may not get wickets or recognition. It's important to pick wickets with new ball and sometimes bowling in good areas you get hit for boundaries but you have to be aggressive. I always think bowlers can win you matches even in a batsman's game. I take Dhoni's advice whenever needed and I try to do things that I'm good at.
That's a wrap from our coverage of this match played at Wankhede. I'm Vishal signing off and do catch us tomorrow again with Saturday being the double-header day. Until then, goodbye and good luck!
Vinay: "Can someone call Byomkesh Bakshi to see if he can solve the mystery of corey not bowling?" If Anderson played for KKR, it might have been easier to get BB.
MG: "MI needs a new captain and how. This match definitely gave several reasons to warrant that.. Its high time!"
Lecs: "My MoM is Nehra. On this batting paradise he bowled superbly."
Pessimism: "So disappointed with CSK here. Losing 4 wickets. How could they? They are going out of form. Slippery slope." Finally a positive response!
Fielders come in the circle, one to go
smartly played, that levels the scores! It was shortish outside off and coming in, Bravo waited and then helped it fine on the off side to beat third man for four
straight to cover and dropped by Harbhajan! Raina came down and drove the ball to cover at shoulder height, Bhajji got both hands to it but put it down
you can't bowl there at that pace to an in-form Raina - short on leg, he swivels the ball wide of long on for four
that's well outside the off stump on length, called a wide
That's the last time out of the night
Wasi-GCC: "two Anderson can not bowl same time."
Vikram: "Don't understand the captaincy of Rohit. Took out Suyal from bowling attack after his 1st over, didn't bowl Vinay while openers were batting(which didn't explain why he chose him in XI) and didn't give Corey an over."
short again, Raina eyes the gap between deep midwicket and fine leg, pulls the ball but Malinga kicks it inside running to his right from fine leg
back of length on leg stump, steered to fine leg easily for one
classical defence from Bravo as he goes back in the crease for the short ball around off
back of length towards leg stump, Raina pulls it to deep midwicket
bouncer angled down leg, he pulls and misses
lands safe after being in the air for very long! It was on length from Suyal, Raina whipped on the leg side and a leading edge went to the off side to fall between cover and deep cover. Run out chance also missed
Hemanth: "Can anyone explain me why Anderson isn't bowling for Mumbai Indians?" Anyone?
angled into the batsman, Bravo tucks the ball wide of fine leg in the gap for two
It's the other way now - Pollard to Bravo
he's taken a wicket, he's got the consolatory wicket of Dhoni! Slower offcutter from outside off, Dhoni marched down the ground and slapped the ball back to the bowler, who took it around waist height with both hands
fullish around off, lofted down the ground to long off
Pollard bowls the next ball but Raina withdraws at the last moment
this slower ball is too full, Raina puts his front foot forward and executes a beautiful straight drive down the ground for a one-bounce four
bouncer outside off now, Raina leaves again and this is a no ball for height
short ball down the leg side for a wide. Raina watches it go to the keeper
slow again, and on length outside off, Raina defends it
Srihari: "That must be the sweetest hit of the night. That sound off the bat."
slow and full well outside off, driven through the covers for one
Kieron Pollard will try his hand now. He runs in and doesn't bowl the first ball, MS Dhoni keeps watching and Pollard smiles
touch back of length towards middle and leg, Dhoni turns on the back foot to help it to fine leg
