40.6 to Armaan Jaffer, sharp catch! And in hindsight, that's smart captaincy to keep a short midwicket (not short leg) under the helmet. Full just outside off. Jaffer presses forward to defend, but with hard hands. Ball flies off the blade, and flies to the leg side, and short midwicket snaps a diving catch against the run of play. Young Jaffer falls for 26, and just what MP needed inside 20 minutes after lunch.. 120/2
2958132.791319000
27.4 to PP Shaw, bowled him, just what MP needed moments before lunch! Shaw's off stump is shaken. That pitched full on middle and off, and looked like coming into him. He went for the drive, but the ball pretty much straightened after pitching, and took his pad to crash into the stumps as he missed the drive. 87/1
59.4 to YBK Jaiswal, gone, taken at gully! Jaiswal's excellent day comes to an end. There is a check for a back-foot and a front-foot no-ball, but both are fine. The right-arm quicks have been coming around the wicket to him, trying to angle that ball back in. Jaiswal drove few off those back of a length balls too, even getting an outside edge once or twice. This time he goes for the drive again, and gets an outside edge which goes low to gully. Jaiswal falls for 77, leaving himself unimpressed. 185/4
112.3 to DS Kulkarni, gone, taken this time! Agarwal is pumped up as the umpire's finger goes up. Bowls full and just outside off stump, as the ball goes on straight after pitching. Kulkarni is half forward to try and have a jab at that, but the ball takes the outside edge and into the keeper's gloves. Sarfaraz loses another partner, as a solid-looking Kulkarni departs. 314/8
2024722.35881200
50.1 to SV Parkar, and he strikes first ball on his return! Leading edge popped up for a simple catch for mid-on. There is a check for a front-foot no-ball, but it is fine. It was a shortish ball around off stump, which seemed to turn into him. Parkar went deep in the crease and tried to flick, but looked like having played a bit too early. That may have exactly been the case with Jaffer too when he got the inside edge to get dismissed. Anyway, Parkar's leading edge lobbed up, as MP secured their third of the day. 147/3
74.5 to HJ Tamore, edged and taken! Full outside off. Bit of turn in, not as much as his usual offbreak. Tamore presses forward to defend, but the ball takes the outside edge, and Patidar takes a sharp, low catch at first slip. MP now ahead in the contest?. 228/5
35.4810642.9716015010
90.2 to SZ Mulani, fuller, lands just outside off. Angling in a bit. Mulani is late to defend, and the ball hits his front leg. Appeal! Given lbw. Yadav is among the wickets, and MP couldn't have asked for a better start. This was crashing into middle. 248/6
102.6 to TK Kotian, peach of a ball! Lands on middle and off. Kotian thought he would defend in front of middle. But the ball moves away late, too late for Kotian to adjust, and the delivery knocks the top of off stump.. 288/7
123.4 to TU Deshpande, tiny edge and the No. 10 is out. Fullish, fourth stump, tempting Deshpande to go for a drive over cover. He falls for it, offers a shot, and a little bit of movement away from the left-hander gets the outside edge to the keeper. Yadav has been excellent this morning, his around-the-wicket angle earning him another left-hander wicket. 353/9
127.4 to SN Khan, slower ball, just outside off. Full and Sarfaraz goes for another big shot. Too early into it, and the captain takes an easy catch near deep extra cover. Mumbai all out for 374 and Sarfaraz Khan gets a standing ovation.. 374/10

16.3 to HS Mantri, plumb! Deshpande goes full on middle and leg. Mantri - the in form MP batter - shows minimal footwork in his attempted straight drive. Hits the front leg, umpire Sharma has no hesitation in raising his finger. 47/1
138.1 to Akshat Raghuwanshi, Castled all ends up is Raghuwanshi! Back of a length on off, jags back in and keeps a bit low as the batter looks to punch it. He is beaten thoroughly and sees his off stump out of the ground. The umpires check for a no ball, which is very tight. Looks like Deshpande has just a bit of his heel behind the line.. 411/5
163.2 to RM Patidar, What a ball! They needed something special to get Patidar and Deshpande delivers. The ball shapes back in beautifully, and sneaks in between the bat and pad of Patidar, who is beaten on the drive. He walks back to a round of applause from the crowd. Superb knock.. 483/7
63.21117352.7328815401
111.5 to Y Dubey, gone, Mulani has a wicket after more than 34 overs! There is some sharp turn off the pitch, as the ball lands on middle and leg with some drift from the around-the-wicket angle, and turns away to tickle the outside edge of Dubey's bat to the wicketkeeper as he tries to defend forward. A solid innings comes to an end immediately after drinks. Maybe Mumbai sense something?. 341/3
143.5 to PM Sahani, gone, Mulani has Sahani not much later after that missed chance! That comes on the fullish length on off, with just enough turn into the left-hander. Sahani had planted his front foot on off, maybe hoping that the ball would go on with the angle from around the wicket. But it turned in to strike his front pad, as all Mumbai had to do was appeal gently to have the umpire's finger raised this time. 430/6
171.2 to AS Agarwal, trapped in front, and Agarwal is gone before any rain arrives! Good length ball coming in from the around-the-wicket angle, as it pitched on middle and leg. A hint of turn away, as Agarwal tried to push forward but was struck on his front pad with the ball ending on middle. Up went the umpire's finger with just half an appeal from Mulani, as Mumbai have their eighth. 505/8
173.6 to K Kartikeya, and he chips to cover just as I say he has looked good! Another check of Mulani's front foot, which is well within its line now. He tossed the ball up to go full and outside off, luring the tailender to have a go at him. Kartikeya drove, and went aerial again, only find Sarfaraz stationed close in. Mumbai inching closer to restricting MP. 515/9
177.2 to SS Jain, Five-wicket haul for Mulani, and so well deserved. Dances down the track and this time the catch is taken at long on. Tossed up middle and leg, he gives himself room, looks for the big hit, does not reach the pitch of it and can only sky it to the fielder who runs in and completes a good catch.. 536/10
3279322.9014614001
89.4 to SS Sharma, is this out? Again, Mumbai think so, but the umpire has gone upstairs after the soft signal of out. Shubham already prepared to walk back, perhaps because he thinks he has nicked it. It is a fair delivery to begin with. Yup, there is an outside there after he tried to walk down the pitch. Mumbai have a wicket after ages. Could this open up the match? Shubham went for another push at this full, teasing delivery around sixth stump, and this time tickled the ball behind just one delivery after surviving a caught-behind chance.. 269/2
132.5 to AR Shrivastava, Relay catch, and Shrivastava departs. Excellent delivery from Avasthi. Climbs awkwardly from short of a god length, catches the batter by surprise and he can only nick it behind. The keeper Tamore, clangs it but Sarfaraz was alert to spot and the take it on relay. 401/4

10.3 to HJ Tamore, bottom edge, and the fun has ended! Tamore falls while trying to sweep that. That was fullish, and pitching outside off. It turned away further, with Tamore in the mood to sweep behind already. The ball turns, and in the end, he has to reach out for it, only for the ball to bounce in front of the stumps before disturbing the bails. 63/1
34.1 to SV Parkar, Gets him as soon as he changes the angle. Why was he bowling the down the leg line all morning? Flatter, skidding on off, he goes back shaping for the cut, misses and the off stump is knocked out of the ground.. 192/4
34.5 to YBK Jaiswal, Two in the over and Jaiswal departs! That's a huge wicket. Tossed up on middle, the batter looks for a massive hoick, gets a thick outside edge that flies to short third man for a comfortable catch.. 198/5
50.1 to TK Kotian, taken down the leg side, that is a very good catch by Mantri! He had to keep moving to his left and even stay low, completing the take in front of his left knee. Kotian went for the sweep to that full ball on leg, which seemed to be going down further with the angle from around the stumps, but got a glove. It wasn't an entirely convincing sweep too - as you would expect from a tailender - but credit must be given to Mantri for remaining alert. MP another step closer now, as Kartikeya has his fourth. 250/8
905305.88235100
1005325.30301260
15.6 to PP Shaw, that is a good catch, and Shaw finally falls in the trap! Has Shaw surrendered a brilliant start by Mumbai? Dubey placed at shortish cover, goes low to his right to complete the grab. He goes flashing at that good length ball which could have been around an imaginary tenth stump, something which Gaurav and co have been hoping for him to do for ages. A flash with a flat bat, and right into the fielder's hands. 83/2
25.6 to Armaan Jaffer, 106kph and the stumps are left in a mess! Does not go for the outside off line seeing the batter move across. Pitches it on the stumps, and Jaffer misses only to find his stumps rattled. Will this slow the run rate?. 139/3
7.304325.73201200
43.3 to SN Khan, taken at deep backward square leg! And with that, go perhaps all of Mumbai's faint hopes of a late miracle. They check for a potential front-foot no-ball, but that is fine. Sarfaraz went for the sweep to this full and tossed up ball outside off, and was wide enough for him having to reach out for it to try and slog sweep that. There was only height in that shot, and not a lot of power. Right into the fielder's hands. 236/7
57.3 to MA Avasthi, All over! MP need 108 to win their maiden Ranji Trophy title. Darts this quicker on off, Avasthi goes back and is caught on the crease. Hits him right in front of the stumps as he plays all around it and the umpire raises his finger in a jiffy. Sahani gets his second.. 269/10

16.3 to HS Mantri, bowled him as Mantri tries to repeat the sweep from the previous Mulani over! He gets a glove instead of bat, as the ball dribbled on to hit the stumps after Mantri shaped to sweep early to that full and tossed up ball on middle. It didn't turn in a whole lot - perhaps Mantri was expecting it to do that, and hence swept from leg stump. 54/2
18.6 to PM Sahani, taken at deep midwicket! But to be honest, Sahani did really well there to first adjust for the low bounce, and then absolutely smashed it off the bat after ending up down on his back knee. Even Mulani has a smile on his face. That was bowled short on off, and shot low before being fired into Kotian's hands, who did well to take that. 66/3
28.1 to SS Sharma, Perishes in a bid to finish off the game quickly! Tossed up well outside off, he reaches for it, looking for the slog sweep, can only get it off the bottom of the bat as the ball loops to point. The fielder takes a good catch diving forward.. 101/4
30712.33120000
1.2 to Y Dubey, Sneaks it through the gate and there's the first wicket! What a delivery! On a length, angles into the batter, and breaches the defences of Dubey. The middle stump goes for a walk and Mumbai are over the moon. Can they sense something here?. 2/1
