11.20pm And that is that. Bit of an early finish, and an opportunity to rest those fingers. Hope you enjoyed the game. I certainly enjoyed bringing it to you, and all of that chat about doppelgangers and whatnot. Until next time, it's ta ta and good night.

11.10pm Time for the presentation.

Tim Paine: "Can't fault that bowling effort, as good as we've bowled for some time. I thought Shoaib and Aiden played really well to get us out of a disastrous start. [When I got out] we were probably looking at 15-0-160. I thought if we could take early wickets against them, some of their guys haven't batted much in the qualifiers or their first game, so we thought we might get them under pressure."

Ben Hilfenhaus is the man of the match "I think it was very well set up by Blizzard and Malik. Fantastic effort, gave us bowlers a pretty good chance. It's quite funny, I thought it came out better the other day but I was hit everywhere. There was a bit of movement and assistance, and it was good to get the overs out of the way and not get tapped around at the end."

Aiden Blizzard: "It was quite tough out there. I knew if I hung in there, I knew Shoaib Malik is coming in, he's in superb form, I knew we could get a big total. It was a little two-paced, some were skidding on, some were stopping. I was able to go under the radar for a little bit. Shoaib is on fire, we're glad to have him."

Daniel Flynn: "The way those guys [openers] have been playing, we just backed them to pull off their game plans, it didn't just work for us today. We've got another big game in a couple of days, we look forward to that."

11.05pm Till today, Northern Knights' middle order hadn't been properly tested. Today it was, and the batsmen haven't passed the test. Chasing a big target, they lost Williamson and Devcich cheaply, and from there it was all one-way traffic. Hilfenhaus swung the new ball beautifully, and the other bowlers chipped in as well, Doherty getting a few to really grip and turn and Bollinger sweeping away the lower order in a hurry. Knights' net run rate has plummeted from +4.5 to -1.94.

W
Bollinger to Southee, OUT

backs away from the stumps, and slaps this high and straight into long-off's hands, and Bollinger finishes with three wickets. This is a humongous win for Hurricanes.

W
Bollinger to Sodhi, OUT

now he looks to clear his front leg and slog it over midwicket. It's too quick for him and he slices it high into the air over the off side, drops into the hands of cover point

Ish Sodhi c Birt b Bollinger 0 (2b 0x4 0x6 1m) SR: 0
16.2
Bollinger to Sodhi, no run

off-stump yorker, and he steers that to point with an open face

16.1
W
Bollinger to Boult, OUT

low full-toss, and today they are all going to get you wickets. He makes some room, and hits that straight to cover at a nice catchable height

Jono Boult c Wells b Bollinger 1 (2b 0x4 0x6 3m) SR: 50

Nayeem: "Once in ICL they tried introducing a "Niner". All that Northern Districts needs is some "Niners"" They could also win it playing Cricket Max, that form of cricket invented in New Zealand. Didn't they have double the runs if you hit it in one particular zone down the ground?

length ball outside off now, and Southee, having made room, was too far away from the ball to connect with that slash

15.5

Mennie to Southee, FOUR runs

slower ball, too short, and it sits up perfectly for Southee to pull that powerfully to the deep midwicket boundary

15.4
1
Mennie to Boult, 1 run

length ball, angled across, and he swipes it down towards deep point

Jono Boult walks in now. He bats left-handed

15.3
W
Mennie to Styris, OUT

another wicket off a full-toss. It's wide outside off, and Styris could have hit that anywhere, but he picks out the extra cover fielder

Scott Styris c Wells b Mennie 37 (27b 4x4 1x6 41m) SR: 137.03
15.2
Mennie to Styris, no run

full and wide, slower ball, and Styris simply isn't stopping those. Comes forward to drive, realises he's too early into the shot, stops himself and lets the ball go

15.1
1
Mennie to Southee, 1 run

full-toss outside off, and he clubs it down the ground, to the left of long-on

More mopping-up work on the outfield. They need 18.60 an over. Mathematically, it's still very much possible.

Nabhaan: "Styris on 199 T20s, Southee on 99 T20s"

Sumit: "all we need is Murali Karthik into play. Then it will be Karthik playing, Karthik typing and Karthik asking scenario." Dinesh Karthik keeping, Arun Karthik batting...

full, on the pads, and that's asking for trouble. Styris clips it away very fine, runs away to the boundary in a flash

1

length ball outside off, and he clears his front leg and clobbers that to long-off

14.5
1w
Laughlin to Southee, 1 wide

sees Southee making some room and he bowls it full and wide outside off. Too wide, by the umpire's reckoning

14.4
2
Laughlin to Southee, 2 runs

short again, and this time he pulls it to the left of deep backward square leg. Didn't connect quite as well as the previous ball

14.3
6
Laughlin to Southee, SIX runs

that's a short ball at normal speed, and Southee clouts it away for another big six, into the crowd behind the square leg boundary

14.2
Laughlin to Southee, no run

slower bouncer again, and Southee is bewildered by it. Shapes to pull, stops himself, and the ball bounces down to the keeper

14.1
1
Laughlin to Styris, 1 run

back of a length, angling in towards leg stump, and he makes a lot of room and cuts that to third man

angles this down the leg side, and he comes forward, clears his front leg, and defends into the off side

13.5
6
Doherty to Southee, SIX runs

like I said, prolific six-hitter. It's a length ball outside off, and he comes forward and launches that back over the bowler's head

saw Southee looking to come down the pitch and didn't deliver the ball

13.4
Doherty to Southee, no run

back of a length, and he makes some room but can't beat cover with that backfoot punch
