That's all we have for you on commentary. The caravan moves to Christchurch for the final Test of the series, which is also McCullum's home and where he will end his international career. Australia will look to spoil the party again, and in the form they are in, they may be odds on to do so.

"Had a big slice of luck, but yeah, really good to capitalise and make the most of that luck and set up the game with the big partnership with Usman. Its pretty hard to [put it out of your mind] Don't get too many second chances, wanted to take the game on on the second day, but New Zealand bowled really well and I had to be patient. had a really good Sheffield Shield game as practice."

"The colour of the wicket certainly changed, probbaly got better to bat on. We exploited the conditions on the first day, we bowled very well. Usman and Adam played out of their skins on the first day. The bowlers toiled hard, reverse swing was handy, build pressure and happy to take 20 wickets and win. Siddle had a back spasm, all four bowlers did a terrific job. New Zealand play very well at home and for us the challenge is winning away from home. They will come back hard and hopefully we have another good game in Christchurch"

"Obvious not ideal. I thought Australia on the first morning put the ball in the right length and put us under huge pressure. Usman and Adam, the way they played on a wicket that still had something on it, credit to them. Turned out to be a pretty good wicket towards the end. If we had manufactured a score higher than the first innings and then bowling last on with a 200 run lead, would have been interesting," says Brendon McCullum. "Nicholls looked very composed. Some handy contributions as well. Still not quite sure whether the margin of the win is quite close to reflecting the two sides. Australia were top class, though. Its not idea, but you've got to give credit to Adam as well to have the strength of mind to overcome that and get 239. Testament to his character. Tough for our boys to cop, but we have to take the rough with the smooth"

2.10 pm An innings and 65 runs. That's a massive margin, on a pretty decent batting surface. Tells you how well Australia have played and it was all about the basics. A massive first-innings score and a diligent bowling display, hitting on and around off stump ever so often, which made the conventional swing and the reverse swing they generated that much more of a threat. New Zealand lose a test at home for the first time since March 2012. Australia take an unassailable 1-0 lead, and it appears the only problems they have is a slight back problem to Peter Siddle.

Earl John: "So, in 2 innings NZ batted for less overs than AUS did in one... "

W
Marsh to Boult, OUT

gives his hand away too early and Marsh nails the middle stump. Boult had moved away outside off and had gone so far that he can't bring the bat down on a simple, full straight ball. Excellent bowling display to finish off an innings victory

Trent Boult b Marsh 12 (16b 1x4 1x6 20m) SR: 75

Marsh to Boult, FOUR runs

makes room and pulls a bouncer from off stump to the long-on boundary

104.1
Marsh to Boult, no run

over the wicket for a short ball jut outside off, Boult is across on the back foot, his front leg coming up off the pitch and then his wrists working overtime against the extra bounce to keep the ball down from short leg

end of over 1045 runs

Lyon to Craig, FOUR runs

shortish and outside off, cut away to the point boundary. Some lovely strokes from Craig. Strong off front or back foot

103.5
Lyon to Craig, no run

stretches forward outside off, defended

103.4
Lyon to Craig, no run

sound appeal for lbw, as Lyon slips one on a good length just outside off. Hits pad first as he tries to defend, but the impact was iffy

103.3
Lyon to Craig, no run

flatter ball on off stump, defended

103.2
1
Lyon to Boult, 1 run

down the track and heaves it to deep midwicket. Bit of an inside edge that really. Couldn't quite make the room he wanted

103.1
Lyon to Boult, no run

not much flight there, Boult recognises it and blocks on off stump

Long-on is back

Marsh to Craig, FOUR runs

he's switched gears, and this cover drive must have scorched the outfield on its way to the boundary. Only a little overpitched, but it has been pummeled with ease

102.5
Marsh to Craig, no run

fuller ball outside off, driven into the covers

Slip goes to short cover. Square leg comes up too

Luke: "you've got to hand it to Boult, for a no.11 he makes the game fun and has talent compared to he likes of Chris Martin"

4
Marsh to Craig, FOUR runs

banged in short and outside off, Craigh has pulled it past mid-on. Early decision to get into the shot and placed it nicely too

Grubb: "@Andy: the whole mindset, for me. The reaction to the Lyon not out and Voges 'no ball' have been odd. They were in decent positions in both cases but lost focus and seem to have used these things as a subconscious excuse rather than a catalyst to pick yourself up and do better. Just my take and could be wrong."

1
Marsh to Boult, 1 run

around the wicket for a length ball on leg stump, Boult steps away and slogs through midwicket

102.2
1
Marsh to Craig, 1 run

that's a loopy full toss outside off and Craig slashes it through point. Thought there was two, which is why they run, and now here's Boult

102.1
Marsh to Craig, no run

fuller ball outside off, Craig goes for the on-the-up cover drive, inside edge to long leg. No run taken

Mitch Marsh back in, around the stumps

6
Lyon to Boult, SIX runs

that could be the biggest six of the match. Boult runs at the spinner, gets the room to free the arms and tonks it miles over long-on. And that's the most sixes by a No. 11 batsman

101.5
Lyon to Boult, no run

comes down the track and heaves a good length ball from outside off to short midwicket

101.4
Lyon to Boult, no run

flighted just outside off for a block

101.3
Lyon to Boult, no run

fuller ball outside off, patted down

101.2
1b
Lyon to Craig, 1 bye

looped it up, and gets it to dip before Craig can come forward and block. Then the turn beats the open face of the bat. Masterful

Phillo: "what we did worng was we should have had Brendan toss the coin and his daughter call!!!!"
