11.51 pm local time: Sri Lanka have moved level with India with four points in the Super Four round. Pakistan don't have any points yet and their slim chances of qualification for the final will now depend on factors outside their control.

Sangakkara set up the victory with a fluent century that set Pakistan a target of 304. Pakistan lost Butt off the very first ball off the run chase but the period that shut them out of the game was the passage of play immediately after Younis' dismissal. Malik and Yousuf were unable to score against either pace and or spin and it was too difficult to score at seven an over against the Murali-Mendis combination. Mendis struck vital blows during his spell of 4-47 to cripple Pakistan.

I'll have the presentation for you in a moment ...

Malik isn't at the presentation because he is indisposed. So Misbah goes up. "We've played a lot of cricket here and the wicket is a bit slow. The ball wasn't coming on to the bat ...

"Murali and Mendis were bowling well. Not giving anything away. Once the fast bowlers were off we needed over seven an over. We need to improve our bowling with the new ball and also our batting at the start. We needed a good start."

The Man of the Match is Kumar Sangakkara for his century. "It was just a case of batting as long as possible. 50 overs is along time. You play the right strokes and back yourself to bat a lot of time. Kapugedera played really well, hit boundaries and took the pressure off. Silva also batted superbly.

"I'm looking forward to playing tomorrow, it's tiring when you have to play double-headers but I'd much rather play in Karachi than in Lahore (where it was much hotter)."

Mahela Jayawardene: "We made a few mistakes in the first few games and we needed to brush up. I think we played a perfect game today."

Thank you for all your emails today, tomorrow's game is between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. A win for Sri Lanka will cement their place in the final. This is George Binoy signing off. Cheers.
