12.10 am India finish their unbeaten run in the Asia Cup with a strong performance in the final. Bangladesh fought hard in phases but a victory with seven balls to spare and eight wickets in hand is a pretty emphatic one in the end. Bumrah and Ashwin were the stars for India with the ball, before Dhawan and Kohli sealed the chase with that partnership. Dhoni had played only nine balls in the tournament before today but he hit it like a dream tonight.

Sulu: "That was SOLID DHONI!!!!!" Indeed it was.

puku: "What last over???"

Jarman Brar: "Dhoni is such a special cricketer. He writes his own scripts, I declare india wins the T20 World Cup and he retires."

Some reactions from the ground ...

Virat Kohli: "It was a tricky situation, Rohit getting out early, credit to Shikhar for the way he batted, delivering when the team needed the most. The 94 stand was the game changer. I back myself to find boundaries and hit the gaps, I don't try to hit too many sixes ... I enjoy the crowd being against me, it pumps me up, the more they boo me the more it motivates me.

Hardik Pandya: It got so much motivation from the crowd, not cheering the India sound ... I've played three series and won all so it feels amazing ...

Ravi Shastri: "Just told them it's a final, enjoy it. Remember the celebrations Bangladesh did when they beat us, so just get the bloody job done. We have a good all-round side, packed with power hitters ... any of them can fire. If any area we have to tighten up, it is the bowling department. Tremendous self-belief, the tour of Australia was extremely important, bouncing back to win four matches after losing the first four. I was not surprised one bit when they chased this down."

I'll have the presentation for you shortly.

Ishan Jain: "That six off the first ball was the knock-out punch. 104 mtr six in such a tense situation with such a cool head. Only Dhoni could have pulled it! Kudos to the best leader ever!"

Arvind Arora: "Congratulations to India! Bangladesh need to be equally credited by their good show in this tournament & could have won today as well. Best wishes to both teams for T20 World Cup!"

Aashutosh: "I remember Dhoni saying in an interview last month about how the middle order or lower middle order batsmen get only 3-4 balls to play in this format and what matters is if they score 3-4 of those or 8-10. This series Dhoni scored 42 of 15 in 4 innings and remained unbeaten in all 4. Amazing!"

The presentation has begun, the officials from the ACC and BCB are giving speeches ...

Sadman Hasan: "Bangladesh has achieved many things to be proud of. They never were the favourite to play the Final, regarding the fact that T20 hasn't been there strongest suit. Yet, they performed incredibly well. Even today I suppose they fell just a yard short. Some luck going in their way could have turned the whole match around. Congrats to the both team for putting up a good show."

The Man of the Match is Shikhar Dhawan, for scoring 60 off 44 balls.

Dhawan: "It's very special, the best thing is that we won, we have worked really hard, feels good to perform at the right time. We were quite comfortable during the chase, we never felt pressure."

The Man of the Series is Sabbir Rahman for making 176 runs at a strike rate of 124 in five innings - the second-highest run-scorer. He isn't being interviewed.

Manoj: "There was not even single extra run from Bangladesh team!!! Amazing"

Sushank: "Hey George please check again in place of sabbir it should be kohli" I checked, it isn't.

The Bangladesh captain goes up to receive the runners-up cheque.

Mashrafe Mortaza: "Upsetting we couldn't win the final but congratulations to the boys for making it this far. they played really well, we have exciting batsmen and bowlers, hopefully this team will carry on from here. We have a lot of confidence, we have to qualify for the WT20 first, we have a flight early in the morning."

Sunny: "Does someone agree with me that this is one of the worst presentation ceremony ever? Stretching it for so long. Seems it will last forever..."

Sridhar: "The Presentation seems longer than the actual game"

The Indians are going up to collect their winners medals. And after what seems like ages, here's the Indian captain.

MS Dhoni: "Thanks to the top-order batsmen, they have done the bulk of the job, the lower order batsmen just go and do what is needed after that. It's looking very good now, we are on track for the World T20. Jasprit, the beauty is that he can bowl yorkers, if you don;t have the yorker you have to try a lot of other deliveries, his slightly different action also helps him a bit. Hardik can bowl a few overs for us, so if he can give us four in T20s ... with his batting and fielding he is a great package ... looking at this team it is tough to give Yuvi the no.4 slot, but he has adjusted ... 13-14 players they are all match-winners, that is the beauty of the side, everyone is taking responsibility to finishing the game."

At long last, Dhoni can go up and receive the Asia Cup, his team-mates are waiting an the celebrations will probably carry on long after the ceremony is done. Fireworks and photos at the Shere Bangla, as the presentation draws to a close.

A final word then, to the ground staff, who battled a tempest in the evening - heavy rain and strong winds - to get the ground fit for play without losing too many overs. The drainage is incredible at this venue and this would have been a washout at many grounds around the world. Thankfully it wasn't.

That brings us to the end of the Asia Cup. The T20 caravan rolls on though. The qualifying round of the World Twenty20 begins the day after tomorrow. Thank you for all your emails today and right through this tournament, and thank you for reading. Good night.

Al-Amin to Dhoni, SIX runs

and that's the winning blow, Al-Amin goes to pieces, bowling a full toss, and Dhoni lofts it cleanly over the midwicket boundary. That ended quicker that expected and the crowd is a subdued one at the moment. India win the Asia Cup for the sixth time

Al-Amin to Dhoni, FOUR runs

Dhoni is finishing this in style! Lofts the full ball inside out over cover, the ball falls just inside the boundary and goes for four

Al-Amin to Dhoni, SIX runs

not many at this rate! Al-amin has given Dhoni the perfect ball to hit, a length ball on off stump, Dhoni planted his foot forward and swung hard, carting the ball miles over midwicket, silencing the crowd

Kapil: "Commendable effort by BD in trying circumstances. Only if Sakib had bowled little better, and had they batted a little more sensibly between overs 7-12, they could have got to 140 and that would gave been a more than good total on this track"

Not over yet, how many can Al-Amin leave to defend in the final over?

tejkiran: "Kohli usually plays classic legal shots. This reverse sweep attempt was really a rare one." Agree, rather out of character. Though there's nothing illegal about a reverse!
