"It got away from us in the middle of the innings," admits Paul Collingwood. Daniel Vettori sidesteps a question about his feelings on Twenty20 but enthuses, as well he might, about his side's performance. Craig McMillan deservedly wins the Man-of-the-Match award.

That''s it from Andrew Miller and Martin Williamson. But, unlike London buses, this being the ICC World Twenty20, there's another match along any minute now ...

A good performance from New Zealand after a sedate start to the match, they batted superbly once Craig McMillan and Scott Styris cut loose, smashing 124 off the last 11 overs of their innings. England started well but lost wickets just when it mattered and were always off the pace in the final overs. The margin looks small, but New Zealand were the better side and won with something to spare. They are now almost certainly through to the semi-finals while, barring something odd, England are heading to Sri Lanka for their one-day series earlier than anticipated.

Gillespie to Broad, 2 runs

another full toss swung into the leg side, but once more the batsman can't find the gap, they come back for the second but that doesn't matter one jot

That's it barring a no-ball or wide ...

19.5
1
Gillespie to Schofield, 1 run

slow full toss, Schofield pulls through midwicket off the bottom of the bat. no power and deep midwicket cleans up

19.4
2
Gillespie to Schofield, 2 runs

Schofield swings but doesn't get hold of it, Broad hurtles back for the second and just beats a weak throw

This has to be a boundary ... 11 off three

19.3
2
Gillespie to Schofield, 2 runs

heaved off middle stump to the right of long-on, that allows them to come back for the second ... but that's not enough

19.2
1
Gillespie to Broad, 1 run

full, driven hard down the ground, long-on makes sure he stops it and fires in a pinpoint throw ...

19.1
1
Gillespie to Schofield, 1 run

driven hard at Styris square on the off side ... the ball bobbles unkindly but he keeps his eye on it and does well

19.1
1w
Gillespie to Schofield, 1 wide

just what New Zealand did not want at this stage ... a gifted run, wide down the leg side

Schofield has had a good Twenty20 record for Surrey ... he is the last hope.

well-aimed bouncer, Schofield fends it into the off side and ambles a single

a very horrible heave, the ball scoots into the leg side

The wheels are really coming off the England innings ... again.

he thumps the ball high over the covers, Jeehan Patel, on for the injured Oram, doesn't have to move at deep cover and he takes a routine catch

Mascarenhas, the man who thumped five sixes off the last over against India at The Oval earlier this month ...

Bond to Shah, 1 run, OUT

full, driven to Vettori at extra cover, he misfields, the batsmen chance the second and Shah has to throw himself full length as the ball zips in to McCullum ... Shah slides but he looks to be an inch short ... had his bat not been the wrong way round with the back on the ground then he might just have made it

This is approximately how anguished Oram looked out there - it's an old pic from the last time he damaged a digit.

England need a couple of boundaries ... and soon.

Oram to Shah, no run

dropped full toss smashed back into Oram's midriff, he spills the chance but he looks less than happy with life ... he had a serious finger injury going into the World Cup and he's heading straight off
