Handshakes all round, most notably between Flintoff and Yuvraj, who had something of a tete-a-tete during India's innings.

Yuvraj was the main man of the day with six sixes in a single over off Stuart Broad, to become the fourth man in senior cricket to achieve the feat, after Garry Sobers, Ravi Shastri and Herschelle Gibbs.

England are out of the World Twenty20, India have a chance to snatch the final semi-final slot, if they can see off South Africa tomorrow.

"I feel sorry for Stuart Broad, but it was only a matter of time before an over like that came around," says England's captain, Paul Collingwood. "It's disappointing to be knocked out, but we'll learn a lot from this."

"What Yuvi did was amazing for the team," says Dhoni. "We got a score that was next to impossible."

And here's what the main man has to say: "I just went in to slog," says Yuvraj. "With two overs to go, I just thought I'd use the crease and timed it well. In England I got hit for five sixes by Dimitri Mascarenhas, so I thought I had to take my chance."

As for his contretemps with Flintoff: "These things happen in international cricket. He's a great allrounder and, off the field, a good friend."

So that's that. India win by 18 runs - or three sixes - after a remarkable evening of batting. We've been Andrew Miller, Martin Williamson and Jenny Thompson. And it's been massive.

Pathan to Flintoff, FOUR runs

Flintoff finishes with an emphatic thump that Harbhajan this time can't cut off. England reach 200 and save some pride, but it's India who march on

19.5
W
Pathan to Wright, OUT

that's an incredible catch from Harbhajan on the long-on boundary! He reached up and back and plucked the six from thin air, inches inside the rope and right in front of the England dug-out! Risked life and limb and came up trumps!

Luke Wright c Harbhajan Singh b Pathan 16 (9b 1x4 1x6 8m) SR: 177.77

6
Pathan to Wright, SIX runs

that must be the lowest-key maximum of the day. Helped over deep midwicket, to a bare ripple of appreciation

19.3
4
Pathan to Wright, FOUR runs

down on one knee and slapped over the covers. Good, but not good enough

19.3
1w
Pathan to Wright, 1 wide

way down the leg-side but Dhoni does well to save four byes

19.2
1
Pathan to Flintoff, 1 run

back of a length, and clubbed down to long-off. It's all a bit futile now

19.1
1
Pathan to Wright, 1 run

massive intent, but not enough connection. Midwicket cleans up

And what do you know. England need 36 in an over! It's been done before ...

18.6
2
Harbhajan to Flintoff, 2 runs

another wild swing, but to no great avail

18.5
1
Harbhajan to Wright, 1 run

makes room again and smeared into the covers, the shy comes in but misses

18.4
2
Harbhajan to Wright, 2 runs

full and straight again, and a near-miss at the non-striker's end. A direct hit would have been out

18.3
1
Harbhajan to Flintoff, 1 run

Flintoff's getting and administering a bit of banter out there. Harbhajan sends down a low full toss, but it's not put away

18.2
1
Harbhajan to Wright, 1 run

full toss, almost follows Wright as he makes room. Cut to backward point

18.2
5w
Harbhajan to Wright, 5 wide

wide down leg and the ball scurries away for four. That'll help

18.1
Harbhajan to Wright, no run

down the track to meet a thigh-high leg-side full toss - and misses out

Luke Wright and Andrew Flintoff to attempt a miracle for England

17.5
W
Singh to PD Collingwood, OUT

moved outside off, went for a massive hoick over square leg, missed again. This time the bowler didn't. And that's comprehensively bowled

moved outside off, went for a massive hoick over square leg, missed

17.3
W
Singh to Shah, OUT

short and Shah swings towards his favourite midwicket boundary, but it's high on the bat and plops straight into the hands of the fielder! England lose another well-set batsman, and their predicament just gets worse

Singh to Shah, 3 wide

short, wide, Dhoni can't gather and the batsmen scamper two. That's a handy bonus

17.2
Singh to Shah, no run

full and very nearly perfect. Yorker length and swings back in, just misses off stump as Shah backs away
