Scorecard
Mashonaland Eagles notched up their seventh victory after defeating Matabeleland Tuskers by 12 runs in Bulawayo. The Tuskers suffered their fifth defeat in the competition and are at the bottom of the points table.
Chamu Chibhabha and Sikandar Raza added 84 for the first wicket in just 9.1 overs before they lost four wickets by the end of the 17th over. Chibhabha contributed 78 off 57 balls but after his dismissal, it was Regis Chakabva and Forster Mutizwa, who smashed 44 off the last three overs to raise their score to 183-4 in 20 overs.
Tuskers' captain Gavin Ewing and No. 3 Charles Coventry added 102 runs for the second wicket but the rest of the batting line-up fell cheaply. Ewing made an unbeaten 72 off 59 while Coventry smashed six sixes in his 31-ball 58. Rain also interrupted the match in the 13th over and the revised target for Tuskers was 174 from 19 overs. Prosper Utseya bowled four tight overs for twenty runs and picked up three wickets.
Mid West Rhinos 115 for 9 (Sibanda 20, Chatara 2-14, Mufudza 2-20) beat Mountaineers 99 (Muzhange 3-15, Mugava 2-17) by 16 runs
Scorecard
Mid West Rhinos beat Mountaineers by 16 runs in a low-scoring game at the Mutare Sports Club to rise to third position. They are behind the Mountaineers who have four wins in seven games.
Batting first, the Rhinos were restricted to 115 runs in 20 overs, losing nine wickets. Opener Vusi Sibanda made 20 runs off 14 balls but the rest didn't take off, including Brendon Taylor, Malcolm Waller and Peter Moor who made 17, 18 and 17 respectively.
The Mountaineers started their chase positively with a 27-run opening partnership, but the batting collapsed and the team was bowled out for 99 in 19.3 overs. Seamer Richard Muzhange took three wickets while Michael Chinouya and Simon Mugava took two each.
