USA cruised to a five-wicket win over Canada in the final of the ICC WCL Americas Region Division One Twenty20 championship at the National Stadium in Bermuda. Chasing 101 to win, USA reached their target with nine balls to spare. Aditya Thyagarajan top scored with 27, adding an unbeaten 37 for the sixth wicket with Carl Wright (21) to see them home.
After getting sent in, Canada slumped to 16 for 4 before Sandeep Jyothi (43) led a mini-recovery with Jimmy Hansra (19), the duo stitching together a partnership of 44. No one else got to double figures. Steve Massiah was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with 3 for 21, while Lennox Cush, Timray Allen and Orlando Baker took two wickets apiece.
USA lost two quick wickets before Sushil Nadkarni (25) and Man-of-the-Match Baker (21) steadied the innings, putting on 36 at a run a ball. Thyagarajan and Wright then made sure there were no more hiccups and USA handed Canada their only loss in the tournament. Hiral Patel took 2 for 17 for the losing finalists.
