Centuries from George Worker and Will Young laid the platform for Central Districts to beat Northern Districts by 159 runs in Gisborne. Chasing 327, Northern Districts got off to a good start with openers Anton Devcich and Dean Brownlie scoring half-centuries, but they collapsed thereafter, and slid from 90 for no loss to 167 all out, with medium-pacer Andrew Mathieson picking up three wickets.
Sent in to bat, Central Districts lost Jamie How cheaply, before Worker and Dean Robinson added 69 for the second wicket in 16.4 overs. Worker and Young then put on 133 for the third wicket, and took the score past 200 before Worker fell for a 136-ball 118, with six fours and three sixes. Young and Kieran Noema-Barnett went berserk thereafter, adding an unbroken 121 in 61 balls to power Central Districts to a total of 326 for 3. Young finished not out on 101 off 87 balls, with eight fours and a six, while Noema-Barnett blasted an unbeaten 66 off 31 balls, with six fours and three sixes.
