Dolphins were consigned to their third wash-out in as many games as their fixture against Lions at Kingsmead was called off with the game evenly poised. Batting first, Lions surged on the back of a strong opening from Gulam Bodi who made a run-a-ball 45, before Jonathan Vandiar struck a half-century in quick time. New-ball bowler Kyle Abbott struck twice to keep Lions in check, before Neil McKenzie began to assume control of the innings. The rain intervened after 31 overs with Lions at 166 for 4, and there was no resumption thereafter.
Dolphins are third in the points table, below Warriors and Cape Cobras, while Lions stay rooted to the bottom, with two defeats and one no-result.
