Junaid Siddique century caps Rajshahi victory

Led by Shuvagata Hom's unbeaten 16-ball 40, Dhaka Division chased down 55 runs in less than five overs with fading light to pick up an eight-wicket win over defending champions Rangpur Division in Bogra. Dhaka Division got to their first win of the season with 2.4 overs to spare.

Dhaka openers Rony Talukdar and Myshukur Rahman fell early but Shuvagata blasted four sixes in his unbeaten 40. Earlier Rangpur were bowled out for 255 runs in their second innings after being asked to follow on. Dhaka pace bowler Mahbubul Alam took four wickets while Suhrawadi Shuvo made 121 batting at No 3.

Dhaka Divison enforced the follow-on after they dismsised Rangpur for 248 in the first innings and took a lead of 201. Left-arm spinner Mosharraf Hossain took 6 for 82 to finish with eight wickets in the match. Dhaka Division had posted 449 runs in the first innings with Nadif Chowdhury making 111 in 187 balls and fifties from Rony and Raqibul Hasan.

A pair of centuries from Marshall Ayub saved Dhaka Metropolis from defeat against Khulna Division at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in another Tier-1 match.

Put in to bat, Khulna posted 455 runs in 112.1 overs led by Mohammad Mithun's career-best 186 runs, which came off 270 balls with 24 fours and spanned nearly seven hours. He found some help from Tushar Imran and youngster Mehedi Hasan Miraz, who both chipped in with fifties.

Miraz later picked up six wickets as Dhaka Metro struggled to get into the groove. Marshall saw the top-order inside nine overs and and played a lone hand to make 107, batting for six hours and 35 minutes. Khulna enforced the follow-on after Dhaka Metro were bowled out for 271 runs in the first innings, falling short by 184 runs.

On the final day, Marshall once again thwarted the Khulna bowling attack almost on his own as Dhaka Metro suffered another top-order collapse, this time with four wickets falling for 35 runs. Marshall and Asif Ahmed added 143 runs for the fifth wicket before Marshall reached his second hundred of the match, ending on 115 not out off 216 balls.

Rajshahi Division made light work of Chittagong Division in their Tier-2 home match, winning by seven wickets. Chasing 257 for a win, Junaid Siddique and Nazmul Hossain Shanto added 193 for the opening stand with Junaid scoring 102 and Shanto making 92. Sabbir Rahman then blasted 49 off 38 balls to complete the chase in 55.5 overs.

Despite Rajshahi's victory, it was Chittagong who were on top halfway into the game, with a 75-run first-innings lead. Chittagong's first-innings score of 383 included Irfan Sukkur's 102, nineties from Mominul Haque and Yasir Ali and Mohammad Saifuddin's unbeaten 74.

Rajshahi's top three - Shanto, Junaid and Farhad Hossain - struck fifties but legspinner Jubair Hossain and left-arm spinner Nabil Samad shared seven wickets as Chittagong got into a good position.

Chittagong, however, failed in the second innings. Tamim Iqbal got out for 4 after his first-innings duck and soon the left-arm spin pair of Taijul Islam and Sunzamul Islam took three wickets each to leave them in trouble. Chittagong were bowled out for 181 runs on the third afternoon, giving Rajshahi 257-run target in just over a day.

Mosaddek Hossain's double-century in Barisal Division's first innings was the highlight of their drawn game against Sylhet Division in Khulna.

This was Mosaddek's third double-hundred in first-class cricket this year. He remained unbeaten on 200 off 245 balls with 15 fours and seven sixes and was well supported by Fazle Mahmud, who made 103.

Barisal declared their innings on 527 for 9 on the second day, but failed to stop Sylhet's early charge. Imtiaz Hossain, who made 127, added 122 for the opening stand with Shanaj Ahmed before wicketkeeper Zakir Hasan and the veteran Rajin Saleh chipped in with 89 each. Barisal, however, struck back as Sohag Gazi ran through the middle and lower-order to take four wickets, bowling Sylhet out for exactly 400 runs.

With a lead of 127 runs, Barisal made 146 for 7 on the final day with Mosaddek scoring 61 off 77 balls.
