Ruled out of action for at least two weeks due to bursitis in the groin, Sean Williams will miss Zimbabwe's trip to Sharjah for their ODI and T20I series against Afghanistan. Tendai Chisoro and Wellington Masakadza have replaced Williams in the ODI and T20 squads respectively.
Zimbabwe will depart from Harare on Tuesday morning. They will play five ODIs and two T20Is against Afghanistan, all at the Sharjah Cricket Ground.
According to a release from ZC, Williams first felt pain during Ireland's tour of Zimbabwe in October, and has troubled him on and off since. An MRI scan performed last week revealed bursitis in the left groin. Zimbabwe physio Anesu Mupotaringa said fluid would have to be drained from the inflammation, following which Williams would undergo a course of antibiotics and recovery.
The first ODI is on December 25.
