A woman has filed a case of physical assault against India legspinner Amit Mishra with the Bangalore police. Sandeep Patil, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, central division, Bangalore, confirmed that a charge had been filed against Mishra, who has been sent a notice asking to appear before the investigation officer.
According to Patil, the woman in question was known to Mishra and the alleged incident occurred in the last week of September when the Indian team was in Bangalore for a training camp ahead of the South Africa tour.
"She has said that both of them had a quarrel and has alleged that he [Mishra] physically assaulted her and verbally abused her," Patil told ESPNcricinfo. The case, Patil said, was lodged under Indian Penal Codes 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means). According to Patil, an e-mail has been sent to the BCCI about a week ago. The BCCI is yet to formally respond to the matter.
Mishra is currently a part of India's squad for the ongoing ODI series against South Africa. He was also included in the 16-member squad for the Test matches, which begin on November 5.
