Odisha reeling after Kalaria's five

A round-up of the Ranji Trophy Group B matches on December 14, 2014

Odisha 219 for 8 (Behera 75, Kalaria 5-54) v Gujarat
Scorecard
Left-arm pacer Rush Kalaria picked up his second first-class five-for to wreck Odisha's top order and put Gujarat into a position of strength going into the second day in Cuttack. Kalaria began by dismissing Anurag Sarangi and Niranjan Behera for ducks in the first over of the day, before taking the crucial wickets of Govinda Podder (37) and the in-form Biplab Samantray (25) to leave Odisha struggling at 219 for 8 at stumps. Odisha's opener Natraj Behera drove the innings, top-scoring with 75. Behera put up big stands with Podder and Samantray for the third and fourth wickets, but his run-out in the 49th over pegged the team back, and Odisha will be hoping that their keeper Halhadar Das builds on his overnight score of 32 if they are to post a competitive total. Kalaria finished with 5 for 54, while Akshar Patel and Kushang Patel snared a wicket each.
Vidarbha 3 for 0 trail Punjab 195 (Gurkeerat 75, Dhurv 4-56) by 192 runs
Scorecard
Vidarbha's left-arm spinner Rakesh Dhurv picked up 4 for 56 to run through Punjab's lower order and dismiss the team for 195 in Nagpur. Punjab, having been inserted, lost wickets right from the off, and barring Gurkeerat Singh Mann, who top-scored with 75, none of their batsmen could contribute more than 26. A fifth-wicket stand worth 79 between Gurkeerat and Taruwar Kohli had Punjab in a promising 126 for 4, but Kohli's wicket in the 51st over triggered a slide that saw the team lose their last six wickets for just 69 runs. Dhurv collected 4 for 56, while Shrikant Wagh and Swapnil Bandiwar took two apiece to bundle Punjab out inside 78 overs. Vidarbha were 3 for 0 at stumps.
Haryana 41 for 2 (Fallah 2-20) v Maharashtra
Scorecard
Only 17.5 overs of play were possible on the first day of the clash between Haryana and Maharashtra due to bad light in Rohtak. Haryana after being put in, were precariously placed at 41 for 2, thanks to two early strikes from the medium-pacer Samad Fallah, when play was called off.
Rajasthan 5 for 0 v Saurashtra
Scorecard
But even lesser game time was possible in Jaipur, as bad light meant that only 24 balls were bowled in the Ranji game between Rajasthan and Saurashtra. Rajasthan, having been inserted, were 5 for 0 before the players were taken off the field.
