Owais Shah, the former England batsman, and Ben Dunk, the BBL Player of the Tournament, have been signed as replacements for Ahmed Shehzad and Thisara Perera in the Caribbean Premier League. Shehzad will be unavailable for Jamaica Tallawahs due to the PCB's training camp, and Antigua Hawksbills' Perera will be travelling with the Sri Lanka A side to England for a limited-overs tour.
Hawksbills will also be without the services of Kieran Powell, who has withdrawn due to personal reasons. Jamaican batsman Shacaya Thomas has come in for Powell. Barbados Tridents have roped in Kirk Edwards after Imran Nazir withdrew due to an injury.
St. Lucia Zouks are also looking for a replacement international player, after Brad Hodge suffered a broken arm in a warm-up game.
There is doubt over Bangladesh allrounder Shakib Al Hasan's participation too, after his NOCs to play in overseas tournaments were cancelled by the BCB because of discipline issues. Shakib was part of the Barbados Tridents squad but the CPL has not yet listed him as unavailable.
"It goes to show the strength of the Caribbean Premier League that we are able to draft in such talented and popular replacements for those who are now unavailable," said Michael Hall, the CPL cricket operations director. "Although international commitments and injuries have taken their toll, we are always confident of having plenty of talented cricketers ready and willing to step in."
The CPL runs from July 11 to August 16.
