Trinidad & Tobago's youngsters didn't have much experience of Indian conditions but that didn't stop them from making a storming start. Lendl Simmons and William Perkins slammed three fours and a six off consecutive deliveries on the way to raising a breathless 45 runs in 4.5 overs.
Charl Willoughby had a poor game against Deccan Chargers and leaked runs early against T&T. However, he came back strongly, taking two wickets - of Perkins and of Darren Bravo - in the sixth over to put the brakes on a rampaging T&T.
Somerset's chase was sputtering early on: they had lost two big wickets and hardly made any runs in the first five overs. The onus was on captain Justin Langer to provide the inspiration, but he was taken out by Sherwin Ganga in a tight sixth over, which virtually ended Somerset's chances.
