Bangalore Brigadiers (Urban) retained their position at the top spot with a four-wicket win over Bijapur Bulls at the Gangothri Glades Ground. In a match reduced to 19 overs a side, Bijapur posted 166 for 2, built on two strong fifty partnerships. Mithun Beerala was involved in both, adding 89 with Devraj Patil for the second wicket, and an unbeaten 51 with Stuart Binny. Beerala's unbeaten 63 included seven fours and a six, while Binny's 17-ball cameo towards the end of the innings included five sixes and a four. Robin Uthappa took control of the chase with a steady 54 off 39 balls. He departed in the 15th over, before Sadiq Kirmani and M Vinod took them home.
The home fans had something to shout about as the Mysore Maharaajas beat Mangalore United by 13 runs at the same venue. An unbeaten 55 by SP Manjunath, and forties by Chetan William and Shoaib Manager pushed Mysore to 174 for 7 after choosing to bat. Mangalore kept wickets in hand for the first half of the innings, but couldn't match the required rate. A half-century by Rohit Sabharwal took them to 87 for 1 at the 12th over, but when he departed, the rest couldn't finish the job. Mangalore had lost three wickets for one run at one stage, a point from which they never recovered. V Chauhan tried to revive the chase with a 14-ball 31 but it came a little too late.
