David Willey has been awarded a two-year contract by Northamptonshire after impressing in early-season matches for the county.
Willey, 19, the son of former England allrounder Peter, said: "I'm delighted to be playing first-class cricket and to be offered a professional contract. It's taken a lot of hard work, effort and commitment to get to this point and I'd like to thank Northants, Old Northamptonians CC and close friends and family for their time and support.
"I realise the work that is ahead but I hope this can be the start of many successful years with Northants."
David Capel, the county's coach, added that he had "shown the aptitude and attitude to accept good opportunities and make use of them". He added; "I see the potential to go forward and enjoy a full and successful career and hopefully fulfil his ambitions in first-class cricket and possibly at an even higher level."
