Scorecard
Captain Jhulan Goswami scored an unbeaten 45 and took 2 for 16 to help India Senior Women beat India B Women by 20 runs in a closely fought game in Ahmedabad on Friday. Goswami was involved in a crucial 61-run partnership with VR Vanitha, who made 40, which rescued India Seniors to a competitive score of 194 after they were reduced to 86 for 5 in the 27th over. Swaroopa Kadam, then took 4 for 18, as India B were bowled out for 174.
Anagha Deshpande and Shweta Jadhav, the India Senior openers, added 39 in seven overs after their team had elected to bat. However, two run outs, and a double strike by Preeti Dimri, who took 2 for 20, jolted India Seniors' progress.
India B's openers Karuna Jain and Poonam Raut put on 32 before Goswami had the latter caught behind in the ninth over. A collapse soon followed as Kadam dismissed batsmen Amrita Shinde and Anjum Chopra, and Goswami returned to capture Jain's wicket. Gurdeep Kaur then fell to Gouher Sultana, as India B slid to 39 for 5, losing five wickets for seven runs in close to nine overs.
Captain Amita Sharma, who top-scored with 70, put on a 72-run partnership for the seventh wicket with Harpreet Kaur but it wasn't enough as India B folded, 20 runs short.
India A, who beat India Seniors by 31 runs in the previous game, will meet India B at the same venue on Saturday.
