Nottinghamshire have announced that they will be releasing AJ Harris when his contract expires at the end of the season.
Harris's career started at Derbyshire and he moved to Trent Bridge in 2000 where, with the exception of a lean 2004, he was an ever-present in the side, helping them to their Championship victory in 2005.
This summer he fell behind new arrivals Darren Pattinson and Andre Adams in the pecking order after suffering an injury setback pre-season. After a brief loan spell at Gloucestershire, he joined Worcestershire, despite it being his benefit year.
"AJ has served Notts well for nine years and he can count himself unlucky this year because our seam bowlers have managed to stay injury-free," said Notts director of cricket Mick Newell. "He's full of effort and commitment and he contributed a lot, particularly to our four day side, during his time at Trent Bridge. He still has a great appetite for the game and he can certainly perform a role for another county but we want to give opportunities to younger bowlers."
