John Emburey, who parted company with Middlesex last month, has been appointed as coach to Ahmedabad Rockets, one of the two new franchises in the Indian Cricket League.
Emburey, the former England spinner, has signed a three-year deal. He told The Times newspaper that he was looking for the core of senior players - including Jason Gillespie, Murray Goodwin, Wavell Hinds and Damien Martyn - to lift the less experienced young Indians in his team.
"The competition between the two will be good for the game," he told the paper. "People have been surprised how much financial impact the ICL can have. There are lots of companies out there interested in sponsoring it."
