In a letter written to former Test batsman and national selector Pranab Roy, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has denied him use of its facilities for joining the Indian Cricket League. Roy had joined the ICL as a talent scout and coach after being rejected for the post of a senior coaching role by the CAB.
"To me it's definitely unfortunate," Roy told NDTV, an Indian news channel. "I don't know why it is so soon. There are other players who have joined before me who haven't received any directive or any kind letter from their respective associations. That really surprised me.
"When I offered my service to the Cricket Association of Bengal this year for a senior Bengal coaching job, somehow it didn't click, as the CAB is really not keen to have me. Simultaneously, the ICL offered me a coaching job."
The BCCI had earlier scrapped the pensions of ex-cricketers Kapil Dev and Kiran More for their involvement in the ICL but their respective state associations hadn't taken any action against them.
